<p>Aim. To develop morphometric reference patterns (templates) of drone wings as a tool for determining the subsecies and population affiliation of local honey bee Apis mellifera colonies. Methods. A total of 3,682 drone wings from 34 colonies located in two apiaries were analyzed: one situated at the border of the Sumy and Poltava regions and the other in the Dnipropetrovsk region (Ukraine). Wing classification was performed within the framework of classical morphometry using nine indices: five conventional (Ci, Dbi, Pci, Disc. sh., Ri) and four newly proposed by the authors (Ci.1.1, Ci.2.1, Ci.2.2, Ci.3). Cluster identification for the studied colonies was conducted based on Mahalanobis distances between the centroids of refeence templates and the corresponding clusters. Results. Four local populations were identified. Two of them were assigned to the subspecies $mathrm{A. m. carnica}$, while the others corresponded to Ukrainian bee populations denoted (in transliteration) as HybrCaucas(O), characterized by substantial hybridization with $mathrm{A. m. caucasica}$, and UkrStep(O), presumably representing Ukrainian steppe bees with unresolved subspecies status. Of the 68 analyzed clusters, 56 $(82.4%)$ were reliably identified. For the majority of colonies, estimates of the probable degree of hybridization between the main population and inrogressed components were obtained. Conclusions. The results of drone wing morphometric analysis from the two apiaries, together with comparisons to previous studies conducted in the Lviv, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv regions, indicate a significant influence of $mathrm{A. m. caucasica}$ on honey bee populations across Ukraine. The proposed approach for assessing hybridization based on drone wing morphometry represents an accessible alternative in cases where genetic analyses are limited or unavailable.</p>
