<p>Mobile ad hoc networks( MANETs) catch the great attention of researchers because of its unique characteristics like independent of infrastructure, dynamic topology behavior, limited energy source, multihop routing, mobility of nodes etc. All these characteristics chase lots of challenges about security, reliability and performance issues. In this paper we present a comparative analysis a set of IEEE WLANs standards family used for MANETs (i.e IEEE 802.11, 802.15, 802.15.4, 802.16 and 802.20). We also present a close look to the performance of various IEEE standards and check their co-existence nature with zero interference occurrence. In this paper we give more emphasis how to choose one reliable technology for any wireless network on the bases of your required network attributes out of all wireless technologies.</p>
