Abstract

Memes have become part and parcel of everyday life. The growth of meme culture has given people a remarkable space for trolling others on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. This paper will analyze the impact of trolling through memes on youth of Kashmir. That is why meme pages have become rich news sources for youth. Memes have become an inseparable element of the internet lexicon. Trolls, along with memes, have replaced newspapers as the key source of information for teenagers. Trolling with memes is a common trend now in Kashmir. Because the people of Kashmir are very much fond of memes, consumption is high among the youth of Kashmir. Though memes are not easy to understand, they help gain more information than any other source. Social media in Kashmir has evolved into a new forum for discussion and debate on contentious issues, providing an opportunity to sway public opinion. Using questionnaire as tool of data collection, the research concludes that memes are used as a tool for trolling people but tier impact on people is not long lasting also it improves the digital engagement of students on digital platforms in Kashmir.
