Abstract

This study examined the impact of government revenue and expenditure on employment and poverty reduction in Plateau State for the period of 1999 – 2019. The main objective of this study is to analysis the impact of government revenue and expenditure on employment and poverty reduction in Plateau State. The major findings shows that government expenditure on education have a positive significant effect on employment and a unit increase will increase employment and reduced poverty level. While that of agriculture and health have positive relationship on employment and insignificant a unit increase will reduced employment and increase poverty level. The major recommendations are that government should channel its revenue and expenditure to productive projects in all sectors of the economy. Priority should be given to education, health care, tourism, agriculture and industry. These will provide employment and reduce poverty level in Plateau State
