Abstract

The purpose of well screens and gravel packs is to maintain open access within the aquifer ensuring that thorough development of the well is not impeded by sand. Where a well draws on unconsolidated sands and gravels, or other friable materials. The production section is characterized by mainly medium to coarse grained sandstone, the uniformity coefficient efficient ranging from 1.44 to 2.14, and the installation of a screen and pack is essential. The use of correctly designed equipment is important and this paper represents a review of the diverse types available, but does not set out to make any recommendations. These type of screen, commonly known as wire–wrap is usually manufactured from type 304 stainless steel, galvanized steel and coated screens have been introduced seeking to inhibit corrosion resistant alloy. The surface area of opening of this type of screen used with aperture sized 0.75 mm necessary to control fine sands from thick aquifer. The screen entrance velocity it was calculated 0.030 m/s.
