Abstract

Introduction: Rhopalurus junceus (R. junceus) scorpion venom decreases the viability of tumor cells of epithelial origin without affecting normal cells. In a mass spectrometry analysis carried out with the venom of female and male scorpions of R. junceus showed the most abundant components were identified in both venoms, but around of 137 components are different between them. However, it is unknown whether the sex of the scorpion R. junceus influences on this venom capacity to affect the viability of tumor cell lines. Objective:To compare the cytotoxic effect of venom obtained from female and male R. junceus scorpions on HeLa tumor cell line.
