Abstract

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons of substantianigra pars compacta in the ventral midbrain leads to the reduction of dopamine being released into the striatum. These processes are then responsible for the clinical features of PD including bradykinesia, resting tremor, rigidity, and difficulty in initiating movements.
