Usability Evaluation of Learning Management Systems in Sri Lankan Universities
As far as Learning Management System is concerned, it offers an integrated platform for educational materials, distribution and management of learning as well as accessibility by a range of users in cluding teachers, learners and content makerses pecially for distance learning. Usability evaluation is considered as one approach to assess the efficiency of e-Learning systems. It is used to evaluate how well technology and tools are working for users. There are some factors contributing as major reasons why the LMS is not used effectively and regularly. Learning Management Systems, as major part of e-Learning systems, can benefit from usability research to evaluate the LMS ease of use and satisfaction among its handlers. Many academic institutions worldwide prefer using their own customized Learning Management Systems; this is the case with Moodle, an open source LMS platform designed and operated by most of the universities in Sri Lanka.
School Teachers Perception towards Pay satisfaction and Personal Characteristics: A Study of Northern Province, Sri Lanka
The primary aim of the study is to find out the significant mean difference in pay satisfaction among personal characteristics of the school teachers as gender, age, family size, subjects for teaching, educational qualification, work place and work experience. Further, secondary objective is to suggest the government authoritative bodies to enhance pay satisfaction, which will give the long term value to the Northern Province, Sri Lanka in terms of social, economical and political development. The study employs independent samples t- test and one-way ANOVA (f-test) to test the operational hypotheses. The survey method used in this study is a questionnaire and a total of 360 usable responses were obtained using simple random sampling technique. Findings revealed that, there is a significant mean difference in pay satisfaction among family size, subjects for teaching, educational qualification and working experience. In contrast, we found that, there is no significant mean difference in pay satisfaction among gender, age level and work place. Further, we suggested that, When the drafts on policies in terms of the pay structure and administration of the school teachers especially in the northern part of the Sri Lanka are initiated or designed, governmental bodies like ministry of education should consider the differences in the level of pay satisfaction among personal characteristics. This study would hopefully benefit to the academicians, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners of Sri Lanka as well as other countries.
A Study on Value Chain Analysis in Paddy Sector: Special Reference to Kilinochchi District, Srilanka
Value chain analysis is essential to an understanding of markets, their relationships, the Participation of different actors, and the critical constraints that limit the growth of livestock production and consequently the competitiveness of smallholder farmers. These farmers currently receive only a small fraction of the ultimate value of their output, even if, in theory, risk and rewards should be shared down the chain. Objective : Main objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the paddy field’s value chain in the karachchi division, Kilinochchi district. And environs with a view to achieving the following broad output, to identify the key value chain actors in the paddy sector; to find out key factors influencing on value chain analysis for paddy sector; to discover the strengths and weakness of each value chain actors; to discover the opportunities and threats of each value chain actors; finally to suggest the value chain actors to strengthening the paddy sector in accordance with benefits of socio and economic point of view.
Green Marketing Practices and Customer Satisfaction: A Special Reference to Leather Goods
Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to find out the impact of green marketing practices on customer satisfaction among the leather industries' customers. Methodology: Primary and secondary data were used for this study. Primary data were collected through the questionnaire. Secondary data were collected from texts, journals and magazines. Further, the research design of this study is based on quantitative method. In this study the quantitative research was used to answer the research question as “what extent Green Marketing Practices influence on the Customer satisfaction in the Sri Lankan Context?†Findings: Based on the overall study, Green marketing practices are positively associated with customer satisfaction. And also, dimensions in the green marketing practices as green issues in product, price, promotion and place have the significant relationship with customer satisfaction. Meantime, green marketing practices has the significant impact on customer satisfaction Recommendation: Organizations in the hyper competitive environment can utilize the promotional strategies to induce the customer attitudes in the green issues. In this context, usually people perceive that green issue has high promotion, which is supported by our analysis shows that the promotion and quality of good service are important factors in the consumer’s decision to buy the product. Originality/value: Although the model is the original and unique, it is based on established theories and models. It provides a well supported explanation of the green marketing to increase the customer satisfaction that should be a useful to manufactures and those who encourage and guide them.
