Managing Editor (Full Time / Remote)
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Reports to: Chief Editorial Officer
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full manuscript lifecycle, from submission to publication
- Coordinate with reviewers, authors, and editors to maintain timelines
- Ensure consistent quality, style, and adherence to ethical standards
- Implement and refine editorial processes, guidelines, and training
- Liaise with the technical/production team to manage formatting, layout, and digital delivery
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in academic or scholarly publishing
- Strong command of English (grammar, style, clarity)
- Familiarity with ethical guidelines (e.g. COPE) and peer review workflows
- Excellent organisational, communication, and project-management skills
- Ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate a geographically distributed team
Platform Engineer
Location: Remote / India (or work-from-home)
Reports to: Technology Lead
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the WordPress/PHP / custom publishing platform
- Develop and integrate features (e.g. search, filtering, taxonomy-driven archives)
- Optimize site performance, security, and scalability
- Collaborate with editorial and design teams to implement front-end UI/UX
- Troubleshoot issues, provide technical support, and test new modules
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in web development (WordPress, PHP, JS)
- Knowledge of REST APIs, plugin development, custom post types, taxonomy
- Experience with responsive design, performance optimization, SEO
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, documented code
- Good communication skills; ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
Research Integrity Officer / Ethics Coordinator
Location: Anywhere (Remote)
Reports to: Editor-in-Chief
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate flagged manuscripts for issues such as plagiarism, data manipulation
- Guide editorial decisions on ethical conflicts, retractions, corrections
- Develop and maintain policies on authorship, conflict of interest, data availability
- Conduct training or workshops on publication ethics
- Liaise with external committees, editors, and authors on ethical concerns
Requirements
- Strong understanding of publication ethics, COPE guidelines, research misconduct
- Academic or publishing experience preferred
- Detail-oriented and objective decision-maker
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Content Strategist & Communications Specialist
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Reports to: Head of Outreach
Responsibilities:
- Develop content plans (blogs, social media, email newsletters) to promote journals
- Write and edit articles, announcements, interviews, and promotional content
- Manage social media accounts, analytics, and community engagement
- Collaborate with marketing and editorial teams to amplify research impact
- Monitor industry trends and suggest new content channels
Requirements
- 2+ years experience in content, communications, or marketing (preferably academic or B2B)
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Experience with social media management and analytics tools
- Understanding of academic publishing is a plus
- Creative mindset and good organizational skills
Editorial Assistant
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Reports to: Managing Editor
Responsibilities:
- Screen and triage new manuscript submissions
- Communicate with authors, track revisions and deadlines
- Format articles, check reference styles, ensure compliance with guidelines
- Assist in coordinating reviewers and follow-up
- Maintain editorial records, databases, and archive
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (any relevant field)
- Prior experience in editorial/publishing or very strong interest
- Excellent written English, attention to detail
- Good time-management skills, ability to multitask
- Experience with manuscript management systems is a plus
