The Effects of Network Ties on Product Innovation Success: A Study of SMEs
The economic importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurship has increased significantly in recent decades but also entrepreneurial activity and SMEs are deemed vital to economic progress. So that, it is justifiable to study how small firms and entrepreneurs can enhance their product innovation success and achieve sustainable competitive advantages. As Mulu and Pierre (2011) finding, local and non-local knowledge linkages, whereas, Giuliani (2013) business and knowledge networks effect on firm innovation and found positive effect of business and knowledge networks on firm innovation. Hence, the main objective of this study is to assess the effects of network ties on product innovation success of SMEs in Ethiopia. A Triangulation method (qualitative, quantitative, case study and descriptive) was employed in the investigation. Instruments used to collect data were Pre-test, post-test, interviews and questionnaires.
The Effects of Firms Characteristics on the Growth of Medium and Small Business in Developing Country (Case Study Ethiopia)
The effects of firms’ characteristics on the growth of medium and small business in developing country. This study is important to both academic research and policy development because of the significant contribution these businesses could make to economic development, the growth of employment and the generation of new innovations. For research design; crosssectional, descriptive and inferential designs study were used in the study. The study used both primary and secondary data. Pertaining to data analysis the researchers used quantitative data analysis techniques mainly descriptive analysis using percentages, tables and mean were employed. While for inferential statistics like, chi-square and ANOVA were used to test the statistically significant difference (independency) of variables, and statistically significant mean difference among different business sectors. Hence, as per result of this study majority of small and medium enterprise were far from raw materials. The farness of the firms from raw material may negatively affect their growth of small and medium business Majority of the small and medium businesses in Ethiopia are either owned by a single individual or are family businesses.
Self-Employment Perception of Female Undergraduate Students in Ethiopia
Female Entrepreneurship is considered an important tool for female empowerment and emancipation. The main objective of this study is to investigate self-employment perception of female undergraduates students (Comparison Ethiopian Public and Private Universities). Entrepreneurship has become a crucial area to study and understand – especially with respect to, perception toward entrepreneur, motivations, constraints and consequences. Female undergraduates students are chosen for the current study is because they are at a period in their career development where they are considering different career routes and are therefore, a potential source of future female entrepreneurs. The finding of the study identified that there were different factor that affects female undergraduates’ perception self-employment.
