Dr. Chukwunonso Henry Nwokoye

Dr. Chukwunonso Henry Nwokoye is a researcher in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (AI) with expertise spanning explainable AI (XAI), large language models (LLMs), machine learning, cybersecurity, human-computer interaction (HCI), accessibility, and digital health. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) and has held a postdoctoral research position at the Trustworthy AI Lab, Ontario Tech University. His research focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of trustworthy, accessible, and inclusive AI systems. Specifically, he has worked on accessible explainable AI for people with visual impairments, AI-assisted communication technologies for individuals with speech impairments, machine learning applications in healthcare, and AI safety and evaluation. His work also extends to cybersecurity, malware propagation modeling, network epidemiology, building adversarial defenses, and responsible AI governance. Dr. Nwokoye has published research in leading venues, including IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society, Scientific Reports, Wireless Personal Communications, MethodsX, ACM CSCW, and AfriCHI, as well as Black in AI and ML for Development (ML4D) workshops at NeurIPS. He has received several competitive awards and grants, including Mitacs Elevate funding, SSHRC-supported research funding, ACM SIGCHI travel awards, and Black in AI travel scholarships. His overarching goal is to advance human-centered, transparent, and socially responsible AI that promotes accessibility, inclusion, safety, and equitable technology adoption across diverse populations.
