A Banquet for Divinities the Food that becomes an Offering in the Candomble

This article providesan analysis ab out the presence of food in Candomblé rituals,basedon a study of off erings for African deities. Understanding the sociability relations present between food, the orixá andtheCommunity are the central point ofthiswork, which presents a reflectionon studies on food andreligion, as well as ananalysis about the kitchen of the orixás,seeking to underst and the dynamics of this space during the realizationofe offerings. The study analyzed the relationship between food andcandomblé ritualsfromthe perspective oftheorists Marcel Maus andNestor García Canclini, who, withtheir concepts of Gift and Cultural Hybridism, contributed to the reflection of the proposed theme.
