Dr. Meenakshi Singhal is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology at ITSCDSR Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. She earned her MDS in Oral Pathology and Microbiology from CCS University. Her research focuses on oral epithelial dysplasia and odontomes, with published works including 'Morphometric Analysis to Identify the Perilesional Tissue in Oral Epithelial Dysplasia: A Novel Objective Tool' and 'Large Atypical Odontome in the Ramus of Mandible A Rare Case Report'. She is a Fellow of the Global Journal of Medical Research and has contributed one international and one national publication to the field of microbiology.

Morphometric Analysis to Identify the Perilesional Tissue in Oral Epithelial Dysplasia: A Novel Objective Tool
Histopathological changes and molecular events that are hidden in otherwise clinically normalappearing mucosa may facilitate the detection of early changes in the surrounding mucosa, which can be assessed in perilesional tissue through morphometric analysis. Aim: To determine the perilesional tissue in oral mucosal biopsies through morphometric analysis. Material & Methods: 50 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimens were taken, which include 40 cases of oral epithelial dysplasia with perilesional tissue marked by India ink and 10 cases of the normal buccal mucosa. Histopathological examination was done to evaluate the presence or absence of dysplastic features in lesional and perilesional tissues. Morphometric analysis was done using epithelial thickness & length between the apical membrane of basal cells & the basement membrane. Results: There was no significant differences in the epithelial thickness between lesional & perilesional tissue. However, the length between the apical membrane of basal cells & the basement membrane was found to be significantly higher on the perilesional side in comparison to lesional side.
