Beyond Operational Efficiency: A Practitioners Journey Toward Human-Centered Facility Management in Indias Corporate Capital.
Abstract- This study explores the evolution of facility management practices in Gurugram’s corporate sector through a two-year practitioner journey. Based on structured audits, ethnographic observations, and interviews with over 50 employees across eight major office sites (2023–2025), the research tracks a shift from compliance-driven operations to human-centered approaches. Findings show that workplaces embracing empathy and inclusion- what this study terms “empathetic infrastructure”- report a 23% higher employee retention rate and 31% greater satisfaction scores than traditionally managed sites. As both a workplace professional and poet, I bring a dual lens to this research. My poem “Beyond Paychecks” reflects the emotional landscape of corporate life- burnout, purpose, and culture- which complements the study’s data-driven insights.
