Abstract

International humanitarian law, hereinafter called IHL, is defined as the branch of international law which limits the use of violence in armed conflict by: a. Sparing those who do not1 or no longer2 directly3 participate in hostilities; b. Restricting it to the amount necessary to achieve the aim of the conflict, which-independently of the causes fought for 4 – can only be to weaken the military potential of the enemy5
