Abstract

In this investigation the figure of Hercules and its relationship in the History of Music with the Musical Theater has been analyzed. From the various existing studies, the propagandistic use and exaltation of his figure is detailed through the musical theater that the Spanish monarchy makes on several occasions. On the other hand, the article shows how in the peak of the use of mythology during the Baroque, Hercules is part of the work of two great European geniuses of music: Bach and Händel.
