Abstract

This paper is a theoretical study based on information from the literature on emotions in organizations seeking the following aspects: conceptual clarification and definition of emotions, presenting the main interpretive-explanatory theoretical models depending on which analysis is performed, and highlighting the main causes associated with the appearance of emotions. In this paper we present some of the theories which outlines general conceptual framework used in addressing emotions. The second part of the paper is centered on the analysis of eight emotions, four positive emotions (joy, happiness, gratitude and well-being) and four negative emotions (anger, fear, envy and jealousy). Descriptive picture follows the main indicators of emotions in terms of intensity or level of activation, hedonic tone, duration, direction, expression, motivational value and cognitive value. The last part of the paper contains some general considerations on emotion management in organizations.
