Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the application of spaced repetition (SR) in serious games for teaching algorithms and programming logic, with the aim of supporting the development of more effective educational solutions based on digital games.
Theoretical Framework: This section presents the main concepts and theories that underpin the research. Serious games and SR are highlighted, providing a theoretical foundation for understanding the context of the investigation.
Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data collection was carried out through automated searches in digital libraries.
Results and Discussion: The results obtained indicate that research on SR in digital games for teaching algorithms focuses on the development of adaptive systems and personalized educational artifacts, showing evidence of gains in the performance of beginners and pointing to gaps for future investigations.
Research Implications: The results of this study present theoretical and practical implications for the field of Computer Science Education, contributing to the design of educational digital games and the development of adaptive learning systems focused on teaching programming.
Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the limited number of works that explicitly address the use of RE in digital games aimed at teaching algorithms. Therefore, the research highlights a relevant gap in the state of the art, reinforcing the relevance and need for future investigations on the subject.
