Abstract

This study aims at valuing the impact of poverty alleviation policies on inequality in the income distribution of ethnic minority groups in Duc-Trong, Lam-Dong province. Welfare economics was employed in this study. In particular, The lorenz curve and Gini coefficient were used to measure reductions in the poverty rate and changes in inequality of income distribution for a local ethnic minority groups. A sample of 258 households in N’thol Ha and Tan Thanh commune was used. Key results showed that the poverty reduction policies had not influenced income inequality for ethnic minority groups as reflected by the Lorenz curve of receiving support groups near 450groups unsupported. This means that the Gini coefficient of the supported group (0.39) is lower than the Gini coefficient of the unsupported group is (0.48).
