Supplier Selection using Integer Linear Programming Model

Article July 3, 2018

Contemporary business organizations highly depend on outsourcing for success in today’s competitive marketplace, and selecting a suitable supplier is an important process as developing new products. Supplier selection is one of the most important decisions of supply chain management which is upstream management. As organizations become more dependent on vendors, the direct and the indirect consequences of poor decision- making become more severe. There are a lot of methods to determine the best matched supplier for a particular product. In this study, at first, we have calculated the weighted values (Using AHP) for different product for different vendors. Then we have proposed a vendor selection model using Integer Linear Programming (ILP) Model for multi-product, multi-vendor environment. The contribution this research lies in the implementation of this model as a customized decision support system according to the expectation of any company. The model is validated with a case study by implementing the model for managing the best suppliers for knit fabrics of a renowned textile industry of Bangladesh.

Automatic Street Light Control System using Light Dependent Resistor and Motion Sensor

Article June 26, 2018

Automatic street light control system aims at designing and executing the advanced development in embedded systems for energy saving of street lights by using Light Dependent Resistor (LDR).Nowadays, human has become too busy and he/she is unable to find time even to switch the lights on or off. This new system can be used more effectively in case of street lights. In proposed system, the street lights will be switched on just before the sun sets and are switched off the next day morning when there is sufficient light on the road. The proposed system uses also motion sensor to control the intensity of light. Because lots of power are wasted when most of vehicles don’t move during late night. This paper shows that the proposed System is relatively low cost, efficiency is better than existing system.
