Sustainability & Environmental Policy
Sustainability & Environmental Policy
Our Commitment to a Greener Future
At Global Journals®, we believe that the pursuit of knowledge must go hand in hand with stewardship of the planet. Our sustainability and environmental policy articulates how we minimize our ecological footprint, practice responsible operations, and support research that advances long-term ecological, social, and economic health.
Strategic Pillars
We build our approach around five core pillars
- Carbon Neutrality & Emissions Reduction
- Sustainable Materials & Supply Chain Management
- Digital Efficiency & Responsible Publishing
- Research for Sustainability & Advocacy
- Transparency, Accountability & Continuous Improvement
Below is how we integrate each pillar into actionable practice, including our adoption of solar energy, electric vehicles, and low-energy hardware.
Carbon Neutrality & Emissions Reduction
- We prioritize reducing emissions at their source, through energy efficiency upgrades, green building standards, renewable energy procurement, and low-carbon infrastructure.
- At our facilities, we install solar panels and other renewable energy systems to offset grid electricity use.
- We invest in energy-efficient computing hardware, servers, workstations, network equipment that consume lower power per unit of performance.
- We transition our transport and logistics operations toward electric vehicles (EVs) wherever feasible, helping reduce carbon emissions associated with travel and delivery.
- For emissions that remain after maximization of reductions, we engage in credible carbon offsetting, nature-based solutions, and local restoration projects to balance residual impact.
Sustainable Materials & Supply Chain Management
For all print, promotional, and publication materials, we source responsibly certified paper (e.g. FSC, PEFC) and prioritize recycled, upcycled, or sustainably harvested materials.
We select inks, adhesives, coatings, and packaging based on low toxicity, recyclability, and minimal environmental burden.
We partner with suppliers who operate under strong environmental practices, low emissions, clean chemical management, waste minimization.
We periodically audit supplier compliance with these standards and preferentially engage local production to reduce transport emissions.
Responsibilities of Authors
- We continually optimize our digital infrastructure (data centers, server clusters, content delivery networks) to reduce energy consumption, preferring providers powered by renewable energy sources.
- We adopt lean publishing workflows that minimize duplicated processing, redundant file conversions, and unnecessary storage.
- Wherever possible, we emphasize digital dissemination over print to reduce paper use, shipping, and related emissions.
- We design our websites and publishing platforms for energy efficiency, fast loading, minimal bloat, caching, so that each user’s carbon footprint is lowered.
Transparency, Accountability & Continuous Improvement
- We publicly disclose our sustainability goals, progress metrics, and annual environmental reports.
- We benchmark performance against industry peers and international standards, and adjust goals based on learning.
- We periodically review and revise our policy to reflect technological advances, stakeholder feedback, and evolving science.
- We seek certification, memberships, or compacts (e.g. signatory to SDG Publishers Compact) to show external commitment and accountability.
How We Practice Sustainability
- We print only when essential, using print-on-demand models to avoid overproduction.
- Offices adopt recycling, composting, and waste-segregation systems.
- Remote work, virtual meetings, and low-carbon travel are encouraged whenever possible.
- Green procurement practices guide vendor selection toward environmentally certified partners.
- We engage staff and collaborators with training programs on sustainability best practices.
