Por Qué Los Haitianos Han Elegido Canadá Para Vivir? Análisis Migratorio 2009-2019

Over the past few years it has been discussed about the reasons why the population of Haiti decided to emigrate during the period 2009 and 2019; however, most documents give importance, mainly, to the earthquake from 2010, without making reference to other reasons. Similarly, these documents have focused primarily on the analysis of the Haitian migration to the United States and the Dominican Republic and even to countries in South America, like Chile; leaving aside the study of Canada. What is more, it has been disregarded that by 2019 this country was positioned as the third option for Haitians, which equals 6,28%. That is why, the present work shall analyze the causes of the Haitian migration into Canada taking into account both the variety of factors as well as the migration policies regarding them.

This work addresses the political ideas developed by Jean-Jacques Rousseau (28 June 1712 - 2 July 1778) and from the romanticism by Benjamin Constant (25 October 1767 - 8 December 1830) about sovereignty. As regards this concept, the aim is to show the similarities and differences from which these authors start when they define, among other aspects, its nature, sources and limits.
