Dr. R Vignesh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Presidency University, Bengaluru, India. He also holds concurrent positions as Assistant Professor/Assistant Laboratory Manager at the Infectious Diseases Laboratory of YR Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG CARE) in Chennai, and as Senior Lecturer at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak, Malaysia. He earned his PhD in Medical Microbiology (Infectious Diseases) from the University of Madras in 2012, following an MSc in Medical Microbiology and a BSc in Microbiology from Madurai Kamaraj University. His research spans infectious diseases, antimicrobial peptides, and computational biology, with notable work on peptide-protein interactions of antimicrobial peptides with the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Dr. Vignesh has been awarded grants from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia (2020–2023) and the National Institute of Health/Division of AIDS (2012–2019). With 98 publications, over 1,360 citations, an h-index of 21, and an i10-index of 42, his contributions are widely recognized in the fields of microbiology and infectious disease research.
