This policy applies to:
- New submissions and manuscripts under editorial screening
- Manuscripts under peer review or revision
- Accepted manuscripts in production
- Published articles (where withdrawal is not applicable and post-publication actions are used instead)
Withdrawal (pre-publication):
- Removal of a submitted manuscript from editorial consideration before publication.
Post-publication actions:
- If an article has already been published, the appropriate remedy is typically a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the issue.
General Principal
- A withdrawal request is not automatic. It is reviewed and confirmed in writing by the editorial office.
- Until written confirmation is issued, the manuscript remains under consideration and must not be submitted elsewhere.
- Withdrawal requests may be paused or declined if there is an active integrity or ethics review.
Who can request withdrawal
- The corresponding author must submit the request.
- The corresponding author must confirm that all co-authors have been informed and agree to the withdrawal.
- If authorship is disputed, the journal may require written confirmation from all authors before processing the request.
A valid request must include:
- Manuscript ID (if available), title, and submission date
- Reason for withdrawal (clear and specific)
- A statement confirming co-author agreement
- Any supporting documents if relevant (for example, institutional letter in case of legal or ethics concerns)
Requests should be submitted via the manuscript submission system or to the editorial office email listed on the journal website.
6) Handling by stage
A) Before peer review
Withdrawal is usually possible upon request, once the required information is received and verified.
B) During peer review or revision
Withdrawal may be approved after confirmation from the corresponding author and verification of co-author consent. The editorial office may ask for additional clarification if:
- Reviews are already in progress
- There are ethical concerns or suspected misconduct
- There is evidence of duplicate submission
C) After acceptance or during production
Withdrawal after acceptance is considered only in limited circumstances because editorial and production resources have already been committed. In such cases, the journal may:
- Decline the request, or
- Approve withdrawal with an administrative record and, where applicable, cost recovery for work already completed
D) After publication
Published articles are not withdrawn. If significant issues are identified after publication, the journal will follow post-publication procedures such as correction, expression of concern, or retraction to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Withdrawal requests may be delayed or declined if the manuscript is associated with potential issues such as:
- Plagiarism or duplicate submission
- Image manipulation
- Authorship disputes
- Peer review manipulation
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
- Publisher and scholarly communication services
Where necessary, the journal may contact authors, institutions, funders, or other relevant parties to resolve concerns in line with ethical best practices.
Fees and Refunds
If any fees have been paid (for example, processing or open access charges), refunds are considered based on the stage of processing:
- Before editorial work begins: refunds may be possible, subject to payment terms
- After peer review begins or after acceptance: refunds may be reduced or not available due to incurred costs
- After production work begins: refunds are generally not available
Any applicable administrative charges will be communicated during withdrawal handling.
Recordkeeping and future submissions
- The journal maintains a confidential internal record of withdrawal decisions for operational and integrity purposes. Misuse of withdrawal to enable simultaneous submissions or to avoid ethical review may result in editorial action, including submission restrictions.
Policy alignment
- Global Journals follows recognized publication ethics practices and standards, including those associated with the Committee on Publication Ethics, and maintains editorial independence and due process. Global Journals is affiliated with Open Association of Research Societies and adheres to established ethical expectations for scholarly publishing.
