Introduction: This paper will cover new updates on atopic dermatitis as a chronic and inflammatory condition that affects people of all ages but is most common in children. Its etiology involves genetic, immunological, and environmental factors, with risk factors such as maternal exposure during pregnancy, irritants, climate change, pollution, and more. Methodology: The current study is a literature review, the database of which was taken from the SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) and PubMed platforms. Results: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic and relapsing disease that affects individuals of all ages, but especially children. It is an inflammatory condition that has a multifactorial etiology involving genetic, immunological, and environmental factors that damage the continuity of the epidermis. The incidence can vary according to geographical region as well as ethnicity. It is generally more common in developed countries, with around 15% to 20% of children and 1 to 3% of adults being affected, and its growth can be explained by urbanization and pollution added to the context, which are significant risk factors for this condition. Introduction: The elderly undergo biopsychosocial and functional changes that reduce their ability to adapt to the environment. In addition, pathological processes occur that make the elderly more susceptible to frailty. Methodology: The methodology used for this analysis was based on a literature review, in which the sources were obtained from the SciELO, Google Scholar, and PubMed data platforms. Discussion: Ageing raises concerns about the impact on the quality of life of these individuals (Lenardt et al., 2016). According to Who (1995), quality of life is an individual's perception of their position in life according to the context in which they live and their relationship with expectations, goals, and concerns. In this sense, it can be seen that quality of life suffers from internal and external influences (Jesus et al., 2018).

Methodology: This is a literature review whose bases were taken from the SciELO and PubMed data platforms. The search period was July 2023, meeting the inclusion criteria of articles from 2000 to 2023, in Portuguese and English, online and in full text. Discussion: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death worldwide and are among the main causes of disability and years of life lost, having an important social, economic, and quality of life impact on the population. (1,2) Cardiovascular risk factors include high cholesterol levels, diabetes mellitus, a sedentary lifestyle, high blood pressure, and obesity.

Introduction: When addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, one must also address its remnants, as well as the Long COVID-19 Syndrome, or just Long COVID-19, which addresses a group of symptoms common to COVID, but which persist even after the infectious picture has ended. The main symptoms are fatigue, dyspnea, joint and muscle pain, headaches, and brain fog. Other symptoms, such as arrhythmias, anxiety, and sleep disorders, have been described, but the cause of these sequelae and the reason for them are not known for certain. Methodology: This is a literature review based on the SciELO and PubMed data platforms. The search period was July 2023, meeting the inclusion criteria of articles from 2000 to 2023, in Portuguese and English, online, and in full text. The following health descriptors (DeCS) were used as strategies to better evaluate the texts: "Long COVID syndrome", "COVID" and "Post COVID syndrome".

Prolonged use of Screens in Children and their Harm

The child's passivity in response to stimuli has wide-ranging effects on a variety of domains, including communication skills and, consequently, cognitive, motor, and social development. Additionally, excessive screen time has a negative impact on the sleep-wake cycle, which in turn affects learning capacity and attention, as well as the risk of heart disease and depression. The lack of outdoor activities is closely linked to the growing trend of remote learning, which has resulted in an increased substitution of these activities with online games and video apps. Additionally, the use of electronic devices for more than three hours daily is associated with the worsening of symptoms related to ADHD, anxiety, and parental stress. However, following the COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread adoption of remote learning, screen time has significantly increased, making parental control more challenging, while the absence of physical activities has been exacerbated during this period, potentially leading to future consequences.

Relationships exist between the makeup of the intestinal microbiota and the development and execution of the most fundamental physiological processes. Additionally, it affects the functioning of the central nervous system (CNS) by interacting with the microbiota-intestine-brain axis. The use of pharmaceutical medication is one of the factors that can alter the composition of the gut microbiota. When treating epilepsy, various drug types are used, each with a different mechanism of action. Among the medications in question are topiramate, primidone, phenytoin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital. The similarity in structure and function between enteric and nerve cells establishes the connection between the brain and the gut.

This paper is based on a general analysis of pneumoconiosis and how it is related to work. Breathing in solid particles can cause the lung disease pneumoconiosis. The inhalation of solid particles is what causes it. Exposure to particles such as asbestos, silica, and coal dust is discussed as a central factor in the genesis of the disease, resulting in complex and specific inflammatory and repair processes for each etiologic agent. The methodological design was a comprehensive literature review between the years 2000 and 2023; the texts chosen were in the English language and searched in PubMed and SciELO databases. Coal dust in mining represents a risk, especially for workers in coal transportation and use, as well as for those involved in mineral excavation and mining. Silicosis, a disease linked to miners, resurfaces due to a lack of understanding of modern work practices.
