Article January 17, 2015

This paper focuses on the determinants of inflation under different policy rules and fixed exchange rate regime. The purpose of this paper is to check the behaviour of inflation in fixed exchange rate regime for a flexible targeting period and a period of strict targeting. The data used are mainly from the World Bank, in «the book of world development indicators» contained in the CD -ROM (WDI 2013). Working for the periods 1977-1994, 1995-2012 and 1977-2012, the analysis was done with a dynamic panel that has the distinction of being among the independent variables, the endogenous variable lagged one or more periods. The endogenous variable is the rate of inflation. Estimates made from the Arellano and Bond (1991) method, it is clear that during the period of flexible inflation targeting, money supply, trade balance and the exchange rate are the main determinants of inflation. During the period of strategy of strict inflation targeting, the main determinants of inflation are the benefits of natural resources, the trade balance and the economic crisis.

Les Determinants De La Rentabilite Bancaire : Une Analyse Sur Donnees De Panel Appliquee Au Cameroun

Article January 17, 2015

Following the bankruptcy experienced by the banking system in the CEMAC sub-region in general and Cameroon in particular the banking system in the 80's, the banks were facing a significant deterioration in their profitability. Thus, it has been important to understand the determinants of profitability. It is in this context, that throughout this work we study the determinants of profitability Cameroonian banks. Determinants selected in accordance with economic theory and empirical studies also with profitability variables include macroeconomic and macro-financial in nature. The econometric approach lies in an analysis of panel data based on a sample of 10 (ten) Cameroonian banks over the period from 2001 to 2010. The key findings emerged from this empirical study show that in terms of return on assets, the size of the bank, liquidity, growth and inflation are positively correlated to it. Capital adequacy, monetary policy and prudential regulation are negatively correlated to it. Terms of return on equity, capital adequacy and prudential regulation positively correlated and the size of the bank, liquidity, economic growth, monetary policy and inflation negatively correlated over the period reference.

Article November 6, 2014

The unavailability and high prices of medicines are the cause of the infringement and its impact on consumer satisfaction. We offer ourselves to assess the level of perceived risk of counterfeit medicines among consumers. Indeed, this study was conducted on the basis of a questionnaire to a sample of 250 people. We had a dependent variable frequency of purchase. Purchase frequency was explained by the perceived risk factor initially been apprehensive; this factor comprising a number of variables all inspired by the literature review. Drawing on the methodology of Mallet (2004), we conducted an analysis at two levels, namely descriptive and explanatory. Descriptive analysis showed that the variable that best assess the risk is felt Risk incurred. Estimating a multinomial logistic regression, it appears that users do not perceive significant risks associated with the use of counterfeit drugs. In addition, the perception of risk is not sufficient to explain the frequency of purchase of counterfeit medicines. It would be possible for organizations that protect the rights of consumers to focus on the risks to alert consumers to significantly reduce the purchase and the consequences associated with the use of counterfeit drugs1.

Each constituent understood a certain number of variables all the spirit of the literature review. Experienced from the methodology of Mallet (2004) we proceeded to and analyses of two level to know descriptive and explanation. We have carried out the test by multinomial logistic regression, the reasoned that the frequency of buying of drugs which are of the daughting quality is significantly influence bye the knowledge of the product, the satisfaction of the illness, the motivation of the buyer. Then we should react on the factors in order to reduce and eliminate the frequency of buying. We have noticed that the satisfaction is the most determine variable which push the users to consume the counterfeit products.

An Econometric Analysis of the Nexus between Credit to the Private Sector, Inflation and Economic Growth: Case of Cameroon 1965 a 2010

Article February 26, 2014

This work is centered on bringing out the link between credit to the private sector, inflation and economic growth. When lending to the economy is insufficient, it poses a problem of slow growth and when credit to the economy is too high, it poses a problem of hyper-inflation. Using data from world development indicators, it employs a Vector auto regressive model involving a system of three equations, testing for the direction of causality amongst the variables using the VAR Granger causality block exogeneity Wald Tests. The results obtain shows that inflation has a positive and significant effect on growth, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on credit to the economy and credit to the economy has a negative and significant effect on inflation. Inflation granger causes economic growth, economic growth granger causes credit to the private sector and credit to the private sector granger causes inflation.
