Total Quality Management (TQM); A Means of Better Work Output in Nigerian Manufacturing Industries
The study inquiries into the role total quality management plays in facilitate an organization output. It suggests that the management of an organization is determined by TQM and its application is complex and gives an assurance of good products and services. The study revealed that human, material resources and busines processes ensure complete customer satisfaction at every stage, internally and externally. The combination of TQM and effective leadership, results in an organisation doing the right things at the right time. For methodological purpose, the study employed expository and content analytics approach to extrapolate the relationship between TQM and the work output in manufacturing industries. It concludes that total quality management and service delivery in manufacturing industries in Nigeria shares common attributes and would be able to contribute successfully to the achievement of the organization aims.
Critique of Ifeanyi Menkiti’s Idea of Person and Community
We are in a society where its system permits an individual to take precedence over a group/community; the reason why we often put wealth above good character. In Africa, some scholars, text and philosophers have attributed this social woe on imperial influx that took over African traditional institution around 19th century. In his quest to search for socio-cultural, metaphysical, epistemic and moral constituents of a person, Ifeanyi Menkiti, a prolific African philosopher gave a turgid articulation on the Person and Community in African Traditional Thought, with a sharp position that a community/group takes precedence over a person/individual. Put difference, it is a community that defines an individual. This paper therefore is committed to review and critically examine contents in this Menkiti’s radical communitarian position. Doing this, we shall examine the essence of a person/individual (with a special focus on metaphysical, epistemic and moral constituents of a person), the process of incorporation in traditional African society, and the idea of depersonalization. This paper assumes that Menkiti’s failed to acknowledge the roles of an infant and the dead (ancestors) in the organization and development of a community.
Ralwsian Veil of Ignorance and the Quest for Restructuring in Nigeria
The paper examines the relevance of the Rawlsian veil of ignorant in the Nigerian quest for restructuring. Debates on restructuring has taken over the wave of Nigeria’s academic, political, social, and economic space and have left many to ethics and tribal conflicts. The paper addresses how fairly resources should be distributed and allocated; the problem of equal opportunity in Nigeria polity. This was interogated through John Rawls’s famous “theory of justice. The paper argues that for a society like Nigeria to enjoys social cooperation and sustainable restructuring amid all polarity it is surrounded with, there is a need to employ an approach that it is devoid of ethnic/tribal, socio-cultural, and political sentiment. The paper assumes that the “veil of ignoranceâ€- behind which the principles of justice are chosen serves as a mechanism in which social and political chauvinism and polarities in the country could be addressed. For methodology, the paper employed a philosophical-expository approach to dissect the subject matter analytically and critically.
Emerging World and Artificial Intelligence; Any Ethical Consideration?
The paper attempts a moral consideration on artificial intelligent. It acknowledged that the progression of artificial intelligence has constituted a lot of things in the 21st century; teaching, war, politics, automobile, telecommunication, economics, social and political system, in fact almost every sphere of mankind. However, this progression as pose some questions on the ethical issues leave many educators wondering how to address moral, ethical, and philosophical issues concerning this use of AI. Among these questions is whether the same ethical standard accrued to man should also be accrued or given to AI (Robot), does AI has any intrinsic value that demands any moral consideration? Beyond these, the study investigates different approaches to AI ethics and how to weigh them. One approach is to the question of “How will we have a tendency to initiate or propose AI systems which will perform ethically?†Another is, “How can we have an inclination to act ethically as programmers and system designers, to decrease the risks that make our systems and codes act unethically?†It is worth noting that philosophers continue to debate the question of whether it makes sense to say that a cybernetic system can be said to be ethical or unethical.
