Leadership For A Successful Quality Journey

The need for leaders arises for the critical roles that they play in leading people groups, without leadership a group of human beings quickly degenerates into arguments and conflicts, because humans see things in different ways and lean toward different solutions. Leadership is a skill needed to influence others’ thoughts, attitudes and behaviors. Leadership is an important skill not only for people in higher positions, but also for so other people in different organizational levels. Leaders set directions to others and help them to clearly visualize the goals that they are targeting. Moreover, leaders encourage, motivate and inspire others to achieve the desired results.

The Impact of the Implementation of the ISO 9000 Quality Management System Upon the Perception of the Performance of the Organizations Workers

Organizations in the region implement the ISO 9000 Quality Management System and obtain the consequent approvals, rewards and certificates, but unfortunately, without the actual and effective implementation on the ground. The purpose of this research study was to assess the impact of the implementation of the ISO Quality Management System upon the performance of participating workers. Qualitative as well as quantitative research was conducted. Data were collected using a quantitative survey administered to 150 participants from either governmental or private and both sectors in the State of Qatar. Findings include the implementation of the ISO 9000 QMS has no impact on the performance of the participating organizations' workers. This research study also revealed some important points related to the organizations' workers and their performances under the umbrella of the ISO 9000 Quality Management System, which leads the Researcher to raise some questions to the concerned people in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Quality Management System Is A Change Management Process

Having a successful Quality Management System is a very hard job and requires all parties within the organization to work as one hand and all to push in one direction. This is why only few organizations around the globe who managed to go in a successful Quality Journey and get benefited from its enormous advantages. From experience, the Author believes that one of the most effective methodologies for the organization to follow (for a successful Quality Journey) is to approach it as a complete Change Management Process. In the following part, the Author tries to provide the organization with some suggestions for activities or actions to do in light of Kurt Lewin’s Change Model.
