Lamps – A Pattern of Financing to Tribes under Cooperative Sector in Mayurbhanj District of Odisha (India)
India has the second largest tribal population in world. Tribal people, scheduled castes and tribes constitute the poor and weakest section of India’s population. Orissa is the 9th largest State with an area of 155,707 km2, and 11th largest in terms of population with 41.94 million people, about 3.47 percent of India‟s population, as per the provisional estimates of 2011 census. In the development of the tribal areas, the cooperatives, of late, have been playing an important role, provision of credit, marketing and procurement of tribal produce, distribution of agricultural inputs, fertilizer, consumer goods etc, are all under taken by the cooperatives in tribal areas. The objective of this paper is to critically review major tribal policies, programmes and an impact study on the socioeconomic status of the tribal’s resulting from the service rendered by the LAMPS in Odisha. The paper also tries to review various methods i. e the quantative measurement and qualitative assessment of the services rendered by the LAMPS, the pattern of financing to the tribal’s and conducting an impact study on the economic status of the tribal’s resulting from the service rendered by the LAMPS in Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.
Managing the Human Resources for Poverty and Socio Economic Development of Mayurbhanj District in Orissa, India.
One of the major concerns of Indian Planning has been the removal of disparities among different sections of population especially the weaker sections like the scheduled tribes and scheduled castes. The basic features common to these tribes as listed in the constitution were that they were having tribal origins, primitive ways of life, habitation in remote and less easily accessible areas and generally backward- socially and economically. The main objective is to analyse the present socio-economic conditions of the tribals in the district and to find out the innovative schemes for Human Resources Development by way of education, training and other social facilities to the tribals of Orissa in India.
Regulated Agricultural Marketing System for Economic Development of Jajpur District in Orissa (India)- An Empirical Analysis
Agriculture has played a key role in the process of socio-economic development of our country.Agriculture has all along been the most crucial sector of the Indian economy and even today agriculture and allied activities make the single largest attribution to Gross Domestic product accounting for nearly one fourth of the total. In Odisha, both Agriculture and Animal Husbandry provides employment directly or indirectly to around 65 per cent of the total workforce. It is ironic that Indian agriculture sector is moving in a reverse direction different from that of the non-agriculture sections. This tendency has been earmarked in the country throwing the responsibility to the agriculture market set ups failure to provide incentives to the former for more production and to stay on profession. The state Odisha comes under such tragic scenario. The economic development of the state logs behind the other states of India. This not only impressed to conduct a survey but also to evaluate the role of agricultural marketing for the development of rural economy of the district and the steps taken by state government in agricultural marketing.Also to assess the regulated agricultural knowledge based marketing system. Finally, the study gives some suggestions for the improvement of efficiency and transparency in the marketing of agricultural produce.
