Design and Analysis of Multipurpose Machine for the Productivity of Sheet Metal Process
The global drive toward intermediate technology and sustainable development motivated the development of multipurpose machines for small-scale metal and ,metal product manufacturers are critical task. Improving the productivity of manufacturing process are significant tasks in all manufacturing engineers and manufacturing industries. Though this comparative advantage were achieved by the proper design, analysis and manufacturing of production machines. Consequently, the objective of this paper was to design and analyzed a multipurpose sheet metal machine to improve the production of sheet metal process and enhance competitiveness of the sector. Since, using mathematical methods this paper presents the design and development of multipurpose metal machine for small- scale enterprises, includes of three rollers; bending component, pipe bender, grooving/beading, twisting parts are rigid from base and machine frame of the machine. During the analysis sheet metal type, sheet metal thickness, forced induced in the machine and production capacity was considered as a parameters in this study However, the design and analysis result indicates that, there were significant improvement is observed in the productivity performance of using multipurpose sheet metal machine in terms of cost, production efficiency, production time, production capacity. The study also attempts to analyses the deflection, material types, the effects of stresses, wear- resistance, ultimate strength of the machine, thermal effect natural frequencies under subjected loads using mathematical analysis were done. In the conclusion, the study investigates that productivity analysis of sheet metal summery and conclusion of the work is also employed.
Production Planning and Control for the Comparative Advantage of Basic Metal Industry
This study is to assessed and investigate the challenges, trends and problems of production planning and controls on basic metal industries comparative advantages. Since the study is conducted with field observation, questioner ,company reports used as primary data and literature review of research articles, books, manuals, magazines, and electronic-sources which used as secondary data. A case study also conducted at the selected two basic metal industries. However, the collected data were analysis using descriptive analysis, SPCT(fishbone diagram).Due to improper production planning and control systems, problems plant lay-out, waste in manufacturing process ,quality, manufacturing planning and control, deficiency of control and monitoring, low production capacity and effectiveness, lack of smooth service and support delivery problems management information system, insufficient skill levels of employee, lack of unity including poor coordination, warehouse problems were instigated as the challenges and problems of basic metal industries. As a result of these challenges the global competitiveness of Ethiopian basic metal industries are poor. Therefore to attempt the above problems, in this study the strategies and ways forward for implementing production planning and controlling(PPC) systems to Ethiopia basic metal industries were done, so as to improve the global competitiveness of basic metal industries.
Numerical Investigation of Spring Back on Sheet Metal Bending Process
Spring back is the main defect in sheet metal bending process. The spring back of sheet metal bending, which is defined as elastic recovery of the part during un loading conditions. It should be taken in to considerations so as to produce bent sheet metal parts within acceptable quality. Spring back is affected by the factors such as; sheet thickness, tooling geometry, friction condition; material property and processing parameters. In this research the numerical investigation of Spring back on edge bending die process is done.. The numerical Analysis is done using ANSYSï›› LS-DYNAï››. The influence of sheet metal thickness, sheet metal type, friction, tool radius and tool shape on spring back for Aluminium, copper, mild steel and High strength steels, sheet metal have been considered for investigations.
Design and Analysis of Small Hydro Power for Rural Electrification
Hydropower, large and small, remains by far the most important of the “renewable†for electrical power production worldwide. Small-scale hydro is in most cases “run-of-riverâ€, with no dam, and is one of the most cost-effective and environmentally benign energy technologies to be considered both for rural electrification in less developed countries and developed countries for further hydro developments countries(like Ethiopia). This paper addresses power generation for rural applications by means of small hydropower plants by using cross-flow turbine systems .The cross-flow turbine is suitable for installing small hydro-electric power plants in case of low head and flow rate. Using mathematical analysis a complete design of such turbines has been done in this paper.
Supply chain Integration for Improving Performance on Manufacturing Industries
Rising global competition and the increasing costs of natural resources today as well as customers demands for higher manufactured goods quality, better product selection, and improved customer service have created new challenges for manufacturing industries. Even though research has suggested that supply chain management and supply chain integration are distinct potential, little is known about their performance effects and about the contextual conditions under which they are effective. Based on a literature survey and expert analysis of manufacturing firms, we empirically investigate the effects of supply chain integration on quality performance using Analytical hierarchical Open Decision maker analysis. We argue our study in the dynamic capabilities view and contingency theory. We investigate that supply chain integration positively affect quality performance. our result indicates that knowledge, technology, production &design and resource integration directly related and impact on quality performance for manufacturing companies.
Study Supply Chain Integration to Basic Metal Industry
Objective: The objective of this research is to investigate the, effect, system and role of supply chain integration on basic manufacturing industries and Identify the main constraints /gap SCI on developing nation metal to develop further investigations. The purpose of this paper is to know what extent supply chain integration affect firm performance and identify gap for pervious work. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the objectives a Systematic literature reviews is carried out to the previous research work in the SCI research area, evaluate their role and contributions, identify the main concept and summaries knowledge, thereby identifying their gap, implications and potential directions of further research.
