Motivational Techniques and LearnersaAcademic Achievement at Primary Level
Motivation is significant to arouse students’ interest towards learning process in every teaching learning situation. At primary level motivation plays important role as compared to the other levels of learning due to the fact that young learners need to be motivated towards learning as they experience the new knowledge. Present study is designed to explore the impact of teachers’ motivational techniques on students’ academic achievements. Here motivational techniques used by the primary school teachers were measured in relation with the academic achievement of primary school students. In this research various objectives, hypotheses and research questions were formulated. The stratified random sampling technique was used to collect data from respondent teaching at Islamabad Model colleges (Schools). Sample size was based on 100 teachers; 50 teachers were taken from five boys’ schools and 50 teachers were taken from five girls schools.
Teaching Styles and Adolescentsa Psychosocial Development
Present study examines different teaching styles, measures adolescents’ psychosocial development and investigates the relationship of teaching styles and adolescents’’ developmental tasks. A total of 130 students and 45 teachers from three Intermediate Colleges of Rawalpindi region were taken as sample of the study. Two instruments namely TSQ & SPSDI were constructed at 5 point Likert scale and validated through two experts of the field. Their reliability was checked through SPSS at Cronbach’s Alpha and it was found to be .85 & .76 respectively. TSQ indicated that most of the teachers were aware of their teaching style and these styles were given five categories namely; expert, formal authority, personal model, facilitator & delegator style. The teachers having personal model style have a strong positive correlation with adolescents’ psychosocial development whereas expert style has negative correlation.
Effects of Innovative Teaching Strategies on Studentsaperformance
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of innovative teaching strategies on the performance of students of grade 1. The experiment was done on the teaching of science subject to the students of grade 1. A sample of 50 students (boys and girls) was selected randomlyout of the population of 100 students in grade 1 from anEnglish medium school of Islamabad. Two groups of 25 students each were made. Pre-test of General Science was given to both the groups and the results were recorded. One group was taken as a control group which was taught science by the teacher who used conventional method of teaching while the other i.e the experimental group was taught by the teacher who used innovative teaching techniques. After one month’s time of teaching, a post-test was conducted.
The Relationship of Multiple Intelligence and Effective Study Skills with Academic Achievement among University Students
Study was designed to investigate the relationship of multiple intelligence and effective study skills with the academic achievement among the university students. It was descriptive correlational in nature in which scientific method was used to achieve the research objectives. The first objective of this study was to investigate the relationship of multiple intelligence , effective study skills and academic achievement of university students, second objective was to measure the impact of multiple intelligence and effective study skills on the academic achievement of university students and the third objective was to investigate the role of demographic variation such as gender, discipline, birth order and family income in determining the levels and dimensions of multiple intelligence, effective study skills and academic achievement. In this study a stratified random sample of 250 male (104) and female (146) university students were collected from 4 selected private and public sector universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Family income of Students ranged from 50,000 to 150,000. The study was delimited to Master level students studying in the fourth semester only. In this research for the measurement of multiple intelligence “Simple Multiple Intelligence Inventory†based on 80 items developed by Gardner was used and for the measurement of effective study skills an inventory named as,†Study Skills†based on 51 items developed by Congos was used. The students’ academic achievement was measured through their results of first three semesters (students result was taken as measure their academic achievement). After data collection it was analyzed with the help of SPSS 16 by applying various statistical tests such as, Mean, SD and Pearson Correlation. Financial Stress Among The Female University Students
This study aimed to explore the financial stress of the female university student. Study also assesses the relationship between financial problems and financial stress. A questionnaire containing 32 positive and negative statements was administered to 100 female university students’ of Bah din Zakiriya University. The psychometric properties were determined. The results show that it is a valid and reliable tool for measuring financial problems and its impact in the context of female university students .in order to test the research objects various statistical analysis were performed on the data and it was found that there is a significant positive correlation between financial problems and stress and financial stress. As far as the variation due to demographic are concerned students from the low income families are facing social rejection from teachers and peer groups.
University Students Perception of Acceptance and Rejection
The purpose of this study was to extend the existing body of knowledge on the perception of acceptance and rejection among the university students. A conceptual framework which illustrates three dimensions of acceptance and rejection including parental, siblings and peer group was developed. The present research was a descriptive study which used an indigenous research inventory to measure acceptance and rejection. The study was carried out on a sample of 100 university students and it explored the impact of demographic variables including gender, age, birth order, and family income level on determining the level of acceptance and rejection. Result of the study revealed that the phenomenon of university students’ acceptance and rejection does exist among. Male students experience higher parental and siblings rejection than females. Students from higher income families experience higher rejection compared to students from low income families. The findings also indicated that different demographic variables contribute significantly in determining the perceived level of acceptance and rejection.
