Western Ghats is one of the biodiversity ‘hotspots’ of the world and currently, there is limited evidence on the status and dynamics of tropical forests in the context of human disturbance and climate change. This study presents the findings of the study conducted under a citizen science programme. The biomass and carbon stocks in the evergreen and deciduous forests of the study area are comparable to the standing biomass of other tropical forests and range from 344-417 tC. There are no major differences between carbon stocks in less and more disturbed forests, which is of significance, given the large dependence of communities on the more disturbed forests. Periodic and long-term monitoring of forests is necessary in the context of potential increased human pressure and climate change to plan and manage forests for mitigation as well as adaptation in a synergistic manner.
Ewing’s sarcoma generally arises from bones and soft tissues. Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) and Ewing sarcoma constitute Ewing family of tumors. In International literature there have been rare reports of Ewing’s sarcoma as either primary tumor of ovary or as metastatic disease involving ovary. No such case has yet been reported in Pakistan. Here a case is being presented who was diagnosed as Ewing’s sarcoma of ovary. Workup showed no involvement of the bones.
Saving can be defined as difference between individual’s disposable income and its consumption. Saving is the normal human nature. This study aims at identifying some important components which influence human saving behavior. A highly structured questionnaire was prepared to collect primary data from 350 depositors from the different banks of Sylhet City in Bangladesh. Several tools (Descriptive Statistics, Factors Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis) have been used to find out core cause of human savings. The researcher has found at least 15 components that influence human saving behavior. So there have been 1 dependent variable i.e., saving fascination and 15 different independent variables i.e., to be rich man, to buy durable goods, Children education, to travel in future, etc. The findings of the study reveal five core components which influence human saving behavior mostly i.e., to have enough social security, to earn profit, for some dependent persons, to be rich man and to travel in future.
Practice in Initial Teacher Education is an ongoing discussion with proponents for a mainly university-based ITE and a mainly school-based ITE. Another focus of discussion in constant change is how to organize practicums (i.e., student teaching). A national initiative was taken in Sweden during 2014 aiming to increase quality of practicums. The changes include fewer schools, increased expectation of competence development for mentors, and closer co-operation between practice schools and university concerning development. The aim of this article is to increase knowledge about implementation of the change in the organization of practicums. The data collection consists of responses from administrators working with the re-organization regarding a suggested timeline, a logic model and a SWOT analysis. The results revealed that a static conception of implementation can be disputed as there is a turnover of schools and thereby mentors. The quality issue is also a matter of continued exploration such as in how the change affects the balance between skills in how to teach and the knowledge and skills needed for reflection and critical discussion.
This article discusses the ways in which digital games affect the behaviours of teenagers by promoting aggression. Also highlighted is what the field of neuroscience can tell us about the implications of using digital games, particularly with respect to their effects on teenagers’ brains and, consequently, on their behaviours. In addition, this paper demonstrates the importance of conducting research on the ways in which the use of digital games affect teenagers’ behaviour, values and mental health and stresses the need to find ways in which to ensure the safe use of digital games and other new entertainment media.
In 2011 The European Union Tax Commission proposed the establishment of a Financial Transaction Tax (FTT). The FTT was subsequently implemented in France (8/1/12) and Italy (1/1/13). It is also scheduled to be adopted in 9 other European Union states during 2015. Great Britain has thus far failed to accept such a tax. The purpose of the FTT is twofold; minimize and control derivative trading by taxing it, and raise revenues. Opponents of the FTT have suggested that such a tax would increase volatility (i.e., risk) in the securities market and would also lead to a reduction in security trading and a drop in security prices. These are all reasons why Great Britain has thus far refrained from passing the tax.
Diesel engine is critical equipment because its failure has high consequences on cost. Therefore, developing a sensitive condition monitoring system capable of detecting a fault in its early stages before break-down happens is very essential. In combustion chamber the pressure carries very useful information on combustion process. However flame front pressure sensors are very expensive and intrusive in nature, which make this another impractical to use.On the other hand engine body vibration signatures are rich in information about its operating parameters and physical condition and could be measured by attaching an accelerometer to the engine block. Study is focused on ways to extract useful information about the diesel engine operating conditions and health from the vibration signals in untreated laboratory environment. The diesel engine vibration sources were reviewed, time domain method and frequency domain method was applied to the engine body vibration to extract the useful information and thus determine the condition of the diesel engine under different speeds and loads.
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consists of large number of energy constrained sensor nodes that are randomly deployed. Sensor nodes have the ability to sense and send data towards the base station (BS). Sensor nodes require large amount of energy for data transmission. So while transmission, some nodes die because of energy depletion. In this case, chance of data loss increases. In order to reduce the data loss fault tolerance technique are used. To provide fault tolerance some Multipath Routing Protocol (MRP) are proposed, which can be classified in two ways i.e. alternative path routing or retransmission and concurrent routing protocol or replication. In MRP, multiple paths are used to send data from source to destination, where if one node fails during data transmission, another node can be used to transmit the same data to the destination by following other optimal path. In this paper we survey various multipath routing protocols along with their fault tolerance schemes and compare each protocol with various parameters.
In this paper, we establish certain results concerning the quasi-Hadmard product for two classes related to starlike and convex univalent functions with respect to symmetric points.
The concept of scalar-vector potential, the assuming dependence of the scalar potential of charge and it pour on from the speed it made possible to explain a whole series of the phenomena, connected with the motion of charge, which earlier in the classical electrodynamics an explanation did not have. Such phenomena include the phase aberration of electromagnetic waves, the transverse Doppler effect, the phenomenon of Lorentz force. In this article the new law of electro-electrical induction, which explains nature of dipole emission, will be examined on the basis of the concept of scalar- vector potential.
