The article presents the results of the experimental research of abusiveness in political cartoons and collages published in the world press. The author has determined criteria for evaluating the degree of abusiveness of pictures that can become a basis for a forensic psychological expert opinion on cases of personal insults. It has been found that the criteria of evaluation of abusiveness in political cartoons and collages depicting female politicians are different from the ones depicting male politicians. It has also been determined that in public opinion the higher social status of the insulted person, the more elements of pictures can be considered to be insulting.
TCP upon wireless networks is most challenging issue because of random losses and ACK interference. Also, TCP suffers from performance declination in terms of creating delay and overhead in network because of poor characteristics of wireless channel. In order to overcome these issues, we proposed a Smart Acknowledgement Distributed Channel Access (SADCA) scheme for TCP in MANETs. In the proposed scheme, first a separate Access Category (AC) for data less TCP acknowledgement packets is used and then it is assigned with highest priority. In this way, delay during transmission of packet can be reduced and also packet can be acknowledged immediately. Also, to increase the performance, delay window size can be adjusted by considering the parameters such as transmission rate, number of hops, and channel occupied ratio (COR). Hence the proposed scheme helps to avoid any kind of delay and overhead for sending TCP acknowledgement
Introduction: Tuberculosis is the leading cause of death for HIV-infected patients, and HIV is the most important risk factor for developing active TB. The risk of death from TB is significantly higher in the HIV-infected population. The interaction between TB - HIV co-infected person is bidirectional and synergistic: HIV-1 infection predisposes to the development of active TB, and the course of HIV-related immunodeficiency is worsened by active TB infection. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the level of TB - HIV co-infection at Fenote Selam district Hospital, Amhara, Northwest Ethiopia, 2014. Methods and materials: Fenote Selam district hospital is 378 km from capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. The study was conducted in May 2014. To determine the level of TB-HIV co-infection, retrospective data review method was used. Medical records of all TB patients who were on anti tuberculosis treatment from March, 2009 to March, 2014 were included in the study. The patients’ records in the five years were 651. Data were collect from patients’ medical record. Ethical approval and clearance was obtained from Debre Markos University Medicine and Health Science College of Ethical Review Committee (ERC).
Most school children who are emotionally challenged are often stigmatized and left abandoned by their teachers and classmates. Although Federal Legislation (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) protects the inherent rights of individuals with emotional challenges and disabilities, that legislation cannot always protect them from subtle forms of discrimination and prejudice. This paper clearly point out the undisputable place of dance play method as a strategy for helping children who are emotionally challenged. School counselors, administrators, and teachers have a unique opportunity to directly address emotionally challenged children by providing organized, enjoyable dance and movement activities in a supportive environment and helping students gain better body control and develop nonverbal and social skills. This paper examined the place of the teacher as dance educator to have insights into these learner’s abilities and effectively guide the children overcomes their emotional challenges in the school.
This paper investigated the influence of socioeconomic background on social adjustment development of adolescents with hearing impairment in Oyo state. The study used 48 participants comprised of 24 males and 24 females who were purposely selected for the study. The research was based on simple descriptive survey research method. Two research instruments were used to gather data for the study. The two sets of questionnaire are Socio-Economic Questionnaire (SEQ) and Social Adjustment Questionnaire (SAQ). One hypothesis was tested and the result showed that adolescents with hearing impairment from high socioeconomic background socialized and adjusted well than their counterparts from low socio-economic background. The paper recommended among others that awareness program should be mounted on the news media to parents and other stakeholders by professionals on the care and needs of the adolescents with hearing impairment.
This study was carried out to examine the major determinant of capital structure of quoted composite insurance companies in Nigeria. A descriptive and explanatory research designed was adopted for this study and the secondary data extracted from the annual report of the purposeful composite insurance was analysed using panel data regression technique. The results revealed that tangibility, growth and Liquidity had a negative impact on the Leverage while Risk, Return on Asset and Size have a positive influenced on Leverage; it was discovered from this study that all the variables identified are statistically significant except Return on Asset and growth; the model was reliable and appropriate for determining capital structure of composite insurance companies; It can be concluded that fixed effect panel regression model was better than the random effect model in determining the capital structure of composite insurance in Nigeria.
A cross sectional study was conducted from December 2014 to May 2015 in Gambella town municipal abattoir and health centers to investigate the prevalence of BTB, isolation and molecular characterization of its causative agents and to assess its public health implications in Gambella, Ethiopia. Postmortem examination, bacteriological culturing, RD deletion typing and spoligotyping were used for investigation. The overall prevalence of BTB in cattle was 13.2% (66/500) on the basis of detailed postmortem examination. Statistical significant difference was observed in the prevalence of BTB among different body conditioned animals (χ2 = 39.105, P=0.000and breeds (χ2 = 24.996, P=0.000). Molecular characterization of 11 mycobacterial isolates from human patients using RD9 deletion typing showed that all were M. tuberculosis and further spoligotyping of the isolated revealed that SIT289, SIT134, SIT1634, SIT142 and one new strain not found in the spoligotype databases.
Electric discharge machining (EDM) is one of the maximum commonly used nontraditional processes for making accurate intricate shapes on hard materials like die steels and is most preferred process to be followed for die and mold making. In this research work, an attempt has been made to machining the En-19 tool steel by using copper electrode performer on electrical discharge machine. Experiment plan has been designed using Taguchi technique to study the effect of different parameters and their levels by conducting least number of experiments. Based on this L18 orthogonal array is been used, Where Diameter of U-shaped electrode, Current and Pulse on time are taken as process input parameters and material removal rate, tool wear rate, Overcut on surface of work piece are taken as output parameters. Effort has been made to find out the optimum machining conditions by varying process parameters like current, powder to be suspended in dielectric, its concentration, tool material and pulse-on duration at three levels with and without using external magnetic field.
On the basis of pertinent in-situ measurements in the North Sea during extra-tropical cyclones and in the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Rita, a power law relation between overwater friction velocity and the wind speed at 10m is found and presented. Since the coefficient of determination exceeds 94 per cent, this power law is recommended for use in air-sea interaction studies.
The Internet has become an indispensable means of sourcing and storing information. In the future, the Internet will be used to control objects, not just information. This raises the issue of security. In the case of wireless sensor networks, the main challenge will be to provide secure lines of communication between devices on the same network.
