We search for pairs of Pythagorean triangles such that, in each pair, twice the difference between their perimeters is expressed in terms of special polygonal numbers.
This paper proposes that social processes of knowledge developed by innovative firms are core factors of Technological Capability and Technological Capital, they are the same processes and they are also a critical key to get competitive sustainable advantages. From the Resource-Based View approach, the Dynamics Capabilities approach and the Knowledge-Based Theory of the firm, the importance of knowledge as a key ingredient of technology must be emphasized and its importance to find the way back to the economic growth. We investigate that when the members of an innovative firmcreate and develop their firm’s Technological Capabilities, using social processes of knowledge, they are also creating and exploiting the firm’s IntellectualCapital.
In this paper we have a tendency to study the energy value (protocol process and communication cost) and good output of different various of TCP (Transmission management Protocol) in unintended networks .We enforced a tested and measured the particular energy cost furthermore as good output of running communications protocol urban center, Newreno, SACK (Selective Acknowledgement). we see energy savings between 20% and 500% depending on the network conditions action.
The study was a content analysis of recently revised Malawian public accountancy curriculums with an aim of evaluating the level of ethics integration. The study also examined the old curriculums in order to appreciate the improvements that the revision made in relation to ethics integration. The study analysed the curriculums of three basic entry levels namely; certificate level, diploma level and degree level. The findings suggested that ethics was not integrated in the old certificate curriculum; however it is now embedded in a single course in revised curriculum. On the other hand, in both the old diploma and old degree curriculums, ethics was embedded only in auditing courses. However in the revised diploma curriculum, ethics is embedded in three additional courses. In the revised degree curriculum ethics is embedded in five additional modules, besides, a standalone module has been introduced. Thus the results suggest significant improvements in the level of ethics integration in the Malawian public accountancy education. The study recommends further comparative studies to evaluate the quality of integration, besides examining the efficacy of teaching, learning and assessment of ethics.
This paper reports the potential of watermelon seed as a natural coagulant for water treatment. It was aimed at identifying watermelon seed as a possible replacement for alum and other synthetic polyelectrolytes in treating water. Laboratory scale studies using jar test experiments were performed on medium turbid water to determine the effect of dosage, pH stirring time and speed on coagulation. Results obtained showed that at dosage of 0.1g/L, pH of 7.0, stirring time of 8 minutes and mixing speed of 100rpm, optimal removal of turbidity was obtained. The reduction in turbidity was below the world health organizations (WHO) recommended value of 5NTU, however the best colour removal was not up to the WHO recommended value of 40TCU. When used in combination with alum, it caused unfavourable changes in the pH of the treated water however with 20% alum as coagulant aid, the best colour and turbidity removal at acceptable pH was obtained, with residual turbidity of 0.89 NTU and residual colour of 15TCU at a pH of 6.50. The results showed that watermelon seed can be used as a natural coagulant for water treatment.
A great deal of comments have been made on the controversies surrounding federalism as an effective system of government that an evaluation of the basic theory of the concept is necessary in order to appreciate its appeal as a system of government, despite these controversies. This study, therefore, attempted to assess the contemporary relevance of federal solution in Nigeria. Secondary sources of data were employed for this research. The study revealed that federal system is not a panacea for the disease of cultural diversity, but in many situations it may be necessary as the only way of combining, through representative institutions, the benefits of both unity and diversity. It was therefore recommended that federal solution is still relevant in Nigeria but the arrangement should be made more equitable.
Wage- related industrial conflicts which manifest mainly in the form of strike actions have become recurring decimals in the public service in Nigeria. The frequency of these conflicts has become worrisome as a result of their disruptive tendencies in the country’s industrial relations system. These conflicts that most often degenerate to industrial unrest have been partly attributed to absence of fiscal federalism in Nigeria, a situation that has ensured that the component units of the Federation do not have autonomy with respect to the control of resources located in their domains. The federating units have to always collect their fiscal allocation on monthly basis from the centre. Wage- related issues are also domiciled in the exclusive legislative list where only the Federal Government has prerogative. The fallout of all these is that today many of the federating units find it difficult to pay the National Minimum wage, salaries and wages of workers, and also meeting up with other financial commitments to workers. This situation frequently leads to industrial unrest in the country’s public service. The paper therefore interrogates the relationship between absence of fiscal federalism in Nigeria and the frequent industrial unrest in the public service. The paper also makes recommendations that could prove helpful in ameliorating the situation.
Religions, including Islam, send a consistent message to the believers that the ultimate goal is to guarantee happiness and tranquility. The main strategy for that is through offering a spiritual sanctuary from all kinds of adversities. Using the inner strengths and having a pure soul and a strong relationship with the ultimate power, God, are the cornerstone for that approach. Adolescence is a vital phase of our lives, where many challenges are expected and potential consequences have be faced. Islam acknowledges the interior power that exists in young people, which can be exercised to have a calm mind, healthy consciousness, and positive thought. This study proposes using religion, Islam, as a resilience tool to underpin young people to cope with their hardships.
Baites, like other tribal societies, had indigenous religious belief system. Embracing of Christianity has brought tremendous changes, not only to religious belief systems, but also to socio-cultural and educational life of its people. This owes to British colonial administration and Christian missionaries. While the impact has been largely positive, there is lurking concern amongst the tribesmen of having lost the traditional values and the life world.
The study evaluated the probability of investing offfarm income’s share of household income in farming among small-scale farmers in North-Central Nigeria. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 360 respondents. Primary data for the study were analysed using Heckman’s two-stage selection model. The lambda of the model was 1.38%, while the chi-square was significant. While education, household size and operating profit margin significantly (p < 0.05) increased the probability of off-farm work participation, education, total crop revenue, primary occupation, farm asset to household asset ratio, and asset turnover ratio significantly (p < 0.05) increased investible off-farm income’s share. Thus, factors in the business environment, other than government policies, shape off-farm work and farm investment decisions. Therefore, policy thrust should focus on interest and tax rates reduction and ease of farm asset acquisition for small-scale farmers.
