During apartheid South Africa, it was not strange to witness a writer who belongs to the race of the white oppressor depicting daily prejudices, but to see how much inextricably as a part of the struggle in South Africa this writer regards himself. Yet, questionable during this period is his enormously evasive position since he believed that it was his responsibility to act against the government to get rid of its burdens even though he was everything for both fronts of the struggle, the government and the black majority, but an adherent. Everything seemed to undermine his efforts even the dominant mode of writing. The main concern of this paper is to provide briefly an account of some of the hardships the dissenting white writer faced during apartheid South Africa despite the privileges accorded by his light skin.
ENCRYPTION of data has become essential, for sending confidential information from one system to another system, especially in banking sector. NTRU labs have done pioneering work using a ring of truncated polynomials which was based on the impossibility (with proper choice of parameters) of finding the polynomial with knowledge of its inverse in modular arithmetic. Recently, Learning With Errors (LWE) has been studied extensively and its hardness can be linked to the near impossibility of finding the Shortest Vector on integer lattices. In this paper we have shown that a preprocessing of input before applying the LWE algorithm greatly reduces the time of encryption and decryption.
Atherosclerosis is a generalized and inflammatory vascular disease frequently associated with renal disease and dysfunction (1) and one of the major causes of premature death in the United States today(2,3). Diverse renal vascular diseases, including atherosclerotic renal disease (ARVD), account for more than one third of all cases of ESRD.(4) Atherosclerotic plaques are present in up to 30% of patients with CKD and ARVD is among the common causes of CKD in Western societies(5,6). Atherosclerotic changes in the renal artery are evident in 50% of patients with atherosclerotic disease previously (7) and in 6.8% of adults > 65 years or age, they induce significant (>60%) renal artery stenosis.(8)In this review we discuss the pathogenesis and types of atherosclerotic renal disease in elderly including atherosclerotic renovascular disease and atheroembolic renal disease.
Spreaders and stiflers play a major role in the persistence or disappearance of memes. In this paper we study the impact of stiflers on the dynamics of memes transmission. We introduce and analyze qualitatively a mathematical model considering stiflers effect. Three equilibrium points of the model are examined: meme free equilibrium, meme cessation equilibrium and meme existence equilibrium. The reproduction number R 0 that generates new memes is found. Local and global stability of the equilibrium points are explored. Finally, we support our results using numerical simulations.
The current research was conducted to study different dimensions of social and material conflicts; it’s different features, faces and also recommendations to enhance and strengthen the harmony and social management in the Village Khewaywali, (Tehsil Wazirabad) of District Gujranwala. The sample of 268 was drawn at the estimated population (876 households). A mix of anthropological tools were used to both study qualitatively and quantitatively the issues of conflicts at typical Punjabi rural community. One adult male member form every sampled household was interviewed after taking verbal communal consent. The research encompassed the reason(s) of conflict within a caste and between different castes in the village. The research proved to discover findings on both material and social conflicts in different castes of the village bisected by profession; the research also explored various socio-cultural reasons creating different material and social conflicts and recommendations to overcome disputes in an effective and efficient manner.
Space partitioning is the process of dividing a Euclidean space into a non-overlapping regions. Kdimensional tree is such space-partitioning data structure for partitioning a Euclidean plane like the surface of earth. This paper describes a tool-based logically partitioning technique of earth surface using K-dimensional tree to segregate the edge servers over the earth surface into a nonoverlapping regions for the particular Content Delivery Network. Consequently selecting an edge server based on Least Response Time lo ad balancing algorithm is introduced to improve end-user response time and fault tolerance of the host server.
The new anion exchange resin (OECH-VP) was synthesized by polycondensation of oligomer epichlorohydrin (OECH) and 4-vinylpyridine (VP), the static exchange capacity (SEC) of which is equal to 6.75 mg-equiv g-1 in 0.1 M HCI solution and the sorption of Ni2+ ions were studied. The influence of the concentration and pH of the Nickel (II) sulfate heptahydrate solutions, contact time on the sorption activity of new anion exchangers (ECHO-VP) to nickel ions were studied. Structure of the surface anionite was studied by electronic microscopy method.
In present days, autonomous multi-rotor copters are increasingly becoming popular due to its advantages in terms of multi-purpose functionalities, robustness, high dynamic response and more significantly inexpensive costs of development and usage. However, real-time attitude estimation is a key component which needs to have further development for better control and precise navigation to drive these unmanned aerial vehicles reliably. This paper presented an approach to improve the method of attitude estimation by Direction Cosine Matrix for multi-rotor copters that is based on low cost MEMS inertial sensors, a magnetometer and a commercial GPS receiver. In connection with the Direction Cosine Matrix attitude estimation scheme, a novel algorithm design for dealing with limitations on attitude sensing accuracy and reducing latency in real-time is proposed. The design is insensitive to noise or loss of GPS signals. The viability of the proposed design is demonstrated by an experimental scenario with real-time attitude information under different observations. From the experiment, some issues have been noticed and their reasons have been discussed.
Millions of tons of cement is used every year that adversely affects environment. Cement is also an important building material for infrastructure development. Cement can be suitably replaced with low cost and so called waste materials like fly ash, marble powder, silica fumes etc... Favoring environment and saving cement. Large length of roads is required to be built in near future over the globe in general and in India in particular. The present technology of making flexible pavements is increasingly becoming unsustainable because of rising life cycle costs and could be suitably replaced with high volume fly ash and high volume marble powder based concrete roads. The daily and seasonal variation in temperature is an important factor influencing cement concrete pavements. The temperature differential depends on the thickness of slab and the grade of concrete. In this study an effort is made to determine realistic temperature differential and temperature stresses in pavement quality concrete , high volume fly-ash concrete slab and high volume marble powder concrete slab of different thickness. The Concrete slabs of size 500X500 mm of different thickness are instrumented with thermocouples to record the temperature differential between top to bottom of the slabs. Also an attempt is made to Design a Controlled concrete mix and High Volume Fly Ash Concrete and High Volume Marble powder Concrete by replacing 50% of cement by fly ash and 50% of cement by Marble powder respectively, also to find Compressive strength and Static Flexural strength at different periods of curing. The temperature is recorded every hour for a period of two days. It was observed that the temperature is more predominate at the top of the slab during day time when compared to bottom of concrete slabs and also observed that the temperature is more at the bottom of the slab during night time when compared to top of concrete slabs. The temperature gradient in concrete slabs achieves equilibrium two t
This article presents a study of Three PID controller technique of a 2-Revelutejoint robot. First we present Denavit- Hartenberg parameters for 2-R robot. Then we studied the dynamics of the 2-R robot and derived the nonlinear equations of motion. A PID controller has been implemented for three types of modeling technique: model based on linearization about equilibrium point, model based on Autodesk Inventor and Matlab/Simulink software’s, and lastly model based on feedback linearization of the robot. A comparison between the three controllers is presented showing the effectiveness of each technique.
