Childhood overweight has reached epidemic levels in the United States. Twenty percent of U.S. children are overweight or obese. This problem is likely to carry into adulthood with increased risk of certain cancers and cardiovascular problems. It has also been demonstrated that diets of preadolescent girls are strongly influenced by their mothers in terms of communication, modeling, and regulation. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior as a framework, the factors that influence mothers to communicate encouragement of a healthy diet for their preadolescent daughters were studied in an effort to reduce female child overweight and subsequent negative consequences. A websurvey (N = 104) with mothers with at least one preadolescent daughter was conducted. Attitude toward encouraging their daughters to eat healthily, the most likely subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control all significantly influenced intention to communicate encouragement to daughters to eat healthily. Implications of these findings are discussed.
This review paper gives a Historical review of language documentation formats and various glossing techniques available. There is a need of a Multilingual glossing format that is capable of providing features described in this paper. The paper introduces advanced glossing and tools available for the same.
Organisations that have already made huge investment in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems now face the decision whether to continue maintaining the existing systems or to invest in upgrades. This paper uses an Irish organisation which has recently decided to upgrade its system, as its case study. Due to the expected cost, the high level of customisation of its existing system, its lack of confidence in newer upgrades available and the risk of business disruption, this organisation had avoided upgrading its ERP system since it was first implemented over twelve years ago. Now the company believes that an upgrade will enhance its competitiveness and align itself to its parent company’s system.
To promote advanced low fees high quality education among the people of India within their reach and to promote continuous research program in all areas of Science & Technology.
Accounting and financial reports of the corporations are primarily prepared for the external users of the information and therefore such reports should be designed, in form and content, according to the needs of the external users. Hence the perceptions of the users of accounting information regarding various aspects of the reports are to be assessed frequently to improve the quality of accounting information of the public limited companies. The present study is an attempt to justify the qualitative characteristics of accounting infor-mation of Islamic banks in Bangladesh on the basis of the opinion of the users of that information; to test whether there is any significant difference in opinion of them in this regard and to identify whether there is any problem of quality in accounting information provided by Islamic banks in Bangladesh.
In this paper we have analyzed the Mathematical modeling of Gonorrheal disease, the spread of a contagious disease involves interactions of two populations: the susceptible and the infectives. In some diseases these two populations are from different species. For example, malaria is not passed directly between animals but by the anopheline mosquitoes, and schistosomiasis is passed from animal to animal only through contact with water in which live snails that can incubate the disease-causing helminthes. In other diseases, the infection can be passed direct from invectives to susceptible: Viral diseases like chicken-pox, measles, and influenza, and bacterial diseases like tuberculosis can pass through a population much like flame through fuel.
This export facto study was carried out to determine the impact of sex, curriculum outcomes, personality trait, gender rolesterotype and common business on the running of fake drug stops by tertiary institution graduates in the event of economic recession. 361 tertiary institution graduates were used for the study multiple regression analysis, and t-test showed their activities to have been influenced by common business practices and personality traits; and the sample members differed as males and females only in the influence of extrovert personality trait which only skewed towards the males. Five questionnaires were used for the study and it findings provided support that informal business practices and education strategies present value employment opportunities that help economic recession victims engage in fake drug sales.
This study assesses the role of public and private sectors in tourism development in Cross River State, Nigeria. Data for the study were collected through structured questionnaire administered to 175 staff from tourism industry as respondents; and semi-structured interview with 10 management staff. The data were statistically analyzed usingpopulation t-test and percentages. The findings of the study revealed that both the public and private sectors are contributing immensely in the development of tourism in the state; and for tourism to be fully developed, both sectors must collaborate to harness the enormous natural resources of the state.
The greatest fruit left by Saussure and Peirce is the arbitrariness of language signs through the comparison between their theories. Through this comparison, we found how the arbitrariness can settle out the problems in language teaching and instruct the linguistic research. Especially we can get the method how to apply the arbitrariness in PBL teaching.
Intrusion detection in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is of practical interest in many applications such as detecting an intruder in a combat zone. The intrusion detection is defined as machinery for a WSN to detect the subsistence of unfortunate, incorrect, or anomalous moving attackers. For this purpose, it is a fundamental issue to differentiate the WSN parameters such as node density and sensing range in terms of a desirable detection probability. In this paper, we consider this issue according to two WSN models: homogeneous and heterogeneous WSN. Furthermore, we derive the detection possibility by considering two sensing models: single-singing detection and multiple-sensing detection. In addition, we converse the network connectivity and broadcast reach ability, which are necessary conditions to make certain the corresponding detection probability in a WSN. Our simulation results validate the analytical values for both homogeneous and heterogeneous WSNs.
