The paper examines language use in African fictionthrough a stylistic appraisal of Ayi Kwei Armah’s The BeautyfulOnesAreNotYetBorn.Afictionwhichpondersonthecorruption that pervades Ghana even after independence, thenovelreveals interesting societal vices through the hero, TheMan. This study mainly investigates the stylistic features in thenovel hinging heavily on the theory of cohesion in discourse,andrevealsthatvariousstylisticfeaturesareusedbythenovelist to communicate the writer’s thematic concerns. Theyincludesubstitution,repetition,conjunctions,digression,temporal abridgement and figurative language.
