Nobel Laureate (Economic Sciences, 2002) Daniel Kahneman’s latest offering Thinking, Fast & Slow (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, USA) is a magnum opus, giving us a superb compendium and forward-looking discussion of his award winning work conducted often with his longtime collaborator Amos Tversky. Kahneman’s work created significant ripples in decision making and behavioral economics, rendering contentious one of the fundamental assumptions of modern economic theory, namely, the rational agent paradigm. In this review, we discuss the key elements of the book, while also brining into perspective the main findings of the works presented therein.
Networks intrusion detection systems allow to detect attacks which cannot be detected by firewalls. The false positive and false negative problem tend to make IDS inefficient. To improve those systems’ performances, it is necessary to select the most relevant that will lead to characterize a normal profile or an attack. We have proposed in this paper a new intrusion detection system architecture and a scheme to flexibly select groups of attributes using neural networks in order to improve results that we have got with our architecture. The selection approach is based on a contribution criteria that we have defined in function of precision measures of type HVS (Heuristic for Variable Selection). The selected subset depends on a threshold that we make vary in function of a defined criteria. He have done a comparative study of this approach and the one without attributes selection. A comparative study has also been done with others works. The NSL-KDD dataset has been used to train, teste and evaluate our scheme. Our Works shows satisfactory results.
In this article, predator prey interactions where the predator is exposed to the risk of disease and harvesting is proposed. Equilibrium points, boundedness, and non-periodic solutions of the model are obtained. Local stability and global stability were discussed. The equilibrium was stable locally, but not globally.
Differences in student success rates in remedial mathematics courses as a function of the instructional format (i.e., traditional face-to-face and computer-assisted) were investigated in this study.Data from the 2012-2013 through the 2014-2015 academic years from a single Texas community college were analyzed. For the 3 academic years examined, statistically significant differences were present in remedial mathematics performance by instructional format, with trivial to small effect sizes.Students had higher success rates in remedial mathematics courses in which a traditional lecture format was used than in computer-assisted courses.Implications and recommendations for future research were discussed.
Authors determine different properties of simple semiring which was introduced by Golan [3]. We also proved some results based on the papers of Fitore Abdullahu [1]. P. Sreenivasulu Reddy and Guesh Yfter tela [4].
The article examines the nature and content (components) of the of socially-oriented activities costs of economic entities. The definition of the "socially-oriented activities costs” is provided." The structure and classification of socially-oriented activities costs is developed, which is necessary for the improvement of the internal controls in the economic activity of the entities. The article also provides the recommendations, which are aimed at improvement of the socially-oriented activities costs accounting, which will increase the level of the social responsibility.
This study examines the experiences of one Black individual (Wilkine Brutus) who worked as a teacher and one Black individual (Sam Okyere) who was a university student in South Korea. The purpose of this study was to understand the meaning of Blackness in South Korea and how it is constructed, how anti-Black sentiments affect Black individuals, and how Black individuals - given the opportunity in South Korea in diverse fields - may shape and transform the construct of Blackness in the country. This study raises a number of issues in the Korean context where Black individuals are being discriminated against because of their race and skin color, and are denied opportunities, especially in the field of education.
Radial basis function (RBF) approximation has the potential to provide accurate func-tion approximations for large data site given at scattered node locations which yields smooth solutions for a given number of node points especially when the basis functions are scaled to be nearly at and when the shape parameter is choose wisely. In this paper, we concentrate on the choice of shape parameter, which must be choose wisely and the simplest strategy we adopt is to perform a series of interpolation experiments by varying the interval of shape parameter, and then pick the est" one. The est" was pick by checking the errors for different data sites and the smoothness of the error graphs. The results shows that the choice of interval for the shape parameter give better accuracy and smoothness of the graphs.
Question Answering (QA) system is a combination of Information Retrieval(IR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. It returns a specific answer in response to user question. However, a system that can interact with the user to clarify and refine the answer is required. We propose QA system that adopts a user model for adaptation and a dialogue interface for interaction with the user combined with information retrieval and natural language techniques for Arabic Language. Our system will be able to handle users’ questions in natural language and to present answers in in respect to the user’s preferences and expected needs. The system achieved a precision of 82.05% and a dialogue success rate of 71.6%. The result is highly promising. As an extension for the present work, we need to make the system more adaptive and capable to learn and evolve with every new interactive scenario.
Getachew [1] introduced there is overfishing in Lake Tana, Amhara, Ethiopia using critical depensation model. In this paper, we applied this technique for depensation model. We investigated that if we consider depensation model we found that there is overfishing.
