One of the major challenges with the use of solar thermal energy is the intermittent nature. As such, present day research is geared towards energy storage systems in which thermal energy is stored during the day for later use. However, in many engineering applications there is a continuous steady demand for energy. Experiments were conducted using concrete mix of 1: 1.2: 1.1 of cement, sharp-sand and limestone, respectively, plus 20g of 5cm length steel fibers which has a thermal conductivity of 2.46 W/mK and storage capacity of 3.24 x 106 J/m3 K. A laboratory packed bed prototype was built and test conducted for simultaneous charging, storage and discharging for an intermittent energy input. From the experimental results, the energy transfer of the packed bed system was analyzed and it was discovered that energy stored, charged and discharged increases with airflow rates. Spherical shaped concrete of diameter 0.11m exhibited the highest thermal energy storage efficiency of 60.5% at airflow rate of 0.013 m3/s.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has affected every facet of student, faculty and researcher’s life. In Higher education system of India, there is extensive involvement of ICT in colleges and universities. To encourage the ICT based teaching and learning methodologies in Indian universities, government had taken many rigorous steps on time. The vision of Indian Prime minister is to empower every resident either urban or rural have to access the digital services, knowledge and information through ICT. Therefore, researcher felt to investigate the ICT knowledge among students, teachers and research scholars those are studying in Indian universities. Many of universities either government or private are supporting the utilization of various ICT based teaching and learning practice. This study describes the ICT knowledge between students and faculty in relation to their occupation.
This paper attempts to investigate the influence of lean thinking on occupational safety and health problems improvement in manufacturing industries and it also to show how occupational safety and health severely hurts manufacturing industries productivity. Nowadays, developing countries are focused on Technology Transfer and be engaged in developing their manufacturing industries so as to compete globally and for their economic growth. While expanding the development of their manufacturing industries, they are also importing new technologies with which they are not familiar and furthermore, neglecting workplace safety and health hazards impact on productivity and workers well-being. Due to these reasons, much productive working time is lost and high costs have been incurred. To highlight the impact of lean on workplace safety and health, this study was conducted by reviewing recent state-of-the-art literature and taking into consideration secondary data records from Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Social Affair (MOLSA) for simple illustrative example. Findings from the literatures showed that there is less attention and consideration of lean workplace safety and health in manufacturing industries.
In Seoul City, the rate of households with a cat or dog was 17.9%, and the number of households with a companion animal was estimated to 3,590,000 in 2013. But, In Seoul City, more than 13,000 animals are abandoned every year. In this study, the occurrence, monthly population change, breed, sex, age, and health condition of abandoned dogs and cats in each district of Seoul City in 2013 were surveyed based on data obtained from the website of the Animal Protection Management System, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (www.animal.go.kr). In 2013, out of 11,320 abandoned animals in total, 7,772 (68.66%) were dogs and 3,548 (31.34%) were cats. Regarding dogs, 5,450 (70.12%) were purebred and 2,322 (29.88%) were crossbred; 5,279 (67.92%) were in normal health condition and 2,493 (32.08%) were in abnormal health condition; and 3,473 (44.69%) were 0-2 years old.
It is irrefutable that the development, incorporation, and use of technology information and communications originated an impact in the business sector. It is also a fact, the existence of a marked asymmetry between developed and developing countries. Furthermore, the measurement and generation of indicators in the information, communication technology ICT sector is also an asymmetric reality, as models and approaches for their measure are still an issue. Nevertheless, the effort made by less developed countries, including Paraguay, is evident, and the milestones achieved are remarkable and there are emblematic cases that deserve to be replicated, but it is still insufficient to reach the penetration levels and use achieved by more developed countries. A pending task, both for Paraguay as well as many Latin American countries, is to fill in this information gap by means of the generation and measurement of indicators that are reliable and representative of the ICT sector, thus enabling the development of programs and activities designed to incorporate all areas, such as: business, education, healthcare, and government.
The temperature and pressure response within control volume of a pneumatic system with thermal consideration is presented in this paper. The non-linear modeling equations of temperature and pressure are derived in a systematic way based on realistic estimation of heat transfer to the system, energy equation, ideal gas law and compressibility of fluid. The pressure and temperature response is compared analytically with the adiabatic condition and found that the system responds differently with thermal consideration.
The aim of this research was to study the impact of electronic documents management on performance. To accomplish this objective, the researcher prepared a questionnaire composed of two parts. The first part concerned with collecting demographic data, while the second part was concerned with collecting data and information regarding the impact of electronic documents management on performance. The collected data were entered to the computer through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results showed positive attitude of the sample unit regarding electronic management of documents and performance. The results showed no correlation between electronic document management and performance, so the study recommended the enhancement of employees to learn more about electronic document management at their work.
Steganography is the art of covered or hidden writing. It is used for criminal activities applications environment. In this paper we focus on implementation of effective detection technique is an essential task in digital images. Previously many number of detection techniques are available for steganography images. After implementation of all approaches also again some challenges are available. This paper presents comparative study in between different steganalysis techniques. Different techniques are providing different results. Analyze of all techniques detection and embedding performance results. Finally we can decide one best steganalysis technique. It saves time and increases accuracy compare to all previous methods.
Harmonic distortion is a huge problem for the power systems. But harmonic distortion can be controlled using some unique methods with the utility systems. This paper discusses the impact of using 12- pulse and 24-pulse rectifier circuit. The 24-pulse topology is generally more expensive, but produces the least Input current harmonics. In this paper pulsemultiplication technique is used to mitigate the harmonic distortion from the input line current. Phase-shifting transformers are used to produce 24-pulse from 12- pulse. A comparison between 12-pulse and 24-pulse rectifier also shown in this paper. Operation of the circuits is verified through computer simulations.
