This paper addresses the creation of pension funds for federal civil servants in Brazil, analyzing the existing legislation and regulation on this issue. To this end, it takes off based on the genesis of the Brazilian private pension plans, logging the emergence of private funds as well as the existence of various laws and constitutional amendments prior to Law 12,618/2012, which provided for the pension funds system for Brazilian federal public servants. It also identifies proponents and opponents to the Foundation for Pension Funds of Federal Civil Servants (FUNPRESP), signaling the discursive construction of the pension fund schemes as central character in contemporary welfare capitalism.
Exposure to mycotoxin producing mold and mycotoxins can be associated with numerous adverse health consequences. We previously reported that patients with chronic illness frequently had a history of prior exposure to water damaged buildings (WDB) and mold. Additionally, the vast majority of these patients had mycotoxins present in the urine. We have postulated that the mycotoxin producing molds were likely harbored internally in the sinuses of these patients. In the present analysis, patients with chronic illness and a positive urine mycotoxin assay were treated with intranasal antifungal therapy, either amphotericin B (AMB) or itraconazole (ITR). AMB was associated with local (nasal) irritation adverse effects (AE) in 34% of the cases, which resulted in discontinuation. In patients that remained on therapy without AE, we found that 94% improved clinically. Additionally, we found that the urine mycotoxin levels decreased substantially in patients that improved on therapy. Similar findings were seen with ITR, however the number of patients treated was much smaller.
This paper examines a class of regression estimator with cum-dual product estimator as intercept for estimating the mean of the study variable Y using auxiliary variable X. We obtained the bias and the mean square error (MSE) of the proposed estimator. We also obtained MSE of its asymptotically optimum estimator (AOE). Theoretical and numerical validation of the proposed estimator was done to show it’s superiority over the usual simple random sampling estimator and ratio estimator, product estimator, cum-dual ratio and product estimator. It was found that the asymptotic optimal value of the proposed estimator performed better than other competing estimators and performed in exactly the same way as the regression estimator, when compared with the usual simple random estimator for estimating the average sleeping hours of undergraduate students of the department of statistics, Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria.
T his paper focuses on identifying the relationship among the firms’ earnings, economic value added and the shareholders’ value of the selected Islamic Banks in Bangladesh. The data of this study composed of five selected Islamic Banks of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) covering the period of five years from 2009 to 2013. Correlation method has been utilized to find out the relationship whereas simple regression method has been used to identify the impact of firm earnings and the economic value added on change in the stock price. Findings reveal that there is strong association among the firms’ earnings per share, economic value added per share and the market price per share Furthermore it is also reveal that share price of Islamic Banks in Bangladeshcan be explained more significantly by the economic value added than the banks’ traditional measures of earnings.
Food is the primary concern of living organisms, provision of diet for maintenance of good physical and mental health is a basic right of an individual and the outcome of factors related to diet on health has been matter of apprehension since ancient times. Healthy and fresh food always demanded by the consumers. Modern research has find out many alternatives of traditional packaging. Now the consumer knows that good packaging system is that which protects the food from the contaminants and increases shelf life of food product. While in Pakistan about 40% of fruits and vegetables lost due to spoilage caused by poor handling, transportation, and poor packaging interaction with other environmental conditions. So it is crucial for developing countries like Pakistan to pay attention to these exacerbating situations for economy losses by considering food packaging an ultimate solution to the problem.
During the past year (2013) at Kefalos Cheese Products, pathogenic microorganisms, Escherichia coli (E.coli) in particular have been increasingly included in various types of cheeses including Cheddar cheese. E.coli outbreaks associated with consumption of different varieties of dairy products have been reported in several countries. The aim of this study was to investigate on the causes of E.coli contamination on Cheddar cheese through the application of some Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles. Cheese samples were analyzed for E.coli and coliform bacteria after production during the validation stage as well as at the verification stage and the average E.coli and coliform counts were statistically analyzed using the T-test. Results showed that after the implementation of the corrective measures there was a decrease in E.coli and coliform count which was compared at 5% significance level. Results presented in this study also showed that the manufacturing of Cheddar cheese at high hygienic standards improves the reduction of E.coli and other coliform related bacterial contamination of the product though the problem is not entirely eliminated.
Angiogenesis is the process that leads to the formation of new blood vessels or neovascularisation. Angiogenesis inhibitors are designed to prevent the formation of new blood vessels. The main aim of this study is to evaluate Anthocyanin obtained from medicinal plant Ficus.bengalensis for Anti-angiogenesis & to standardize a method for the study of angiogenesis. A variety of animal models have been described to provide more quantitative analysis of in vivo angiogenesis and to characterize pro- and anti Angiogenic molecules.
The effect of dietary inclusion of stinging nettle leaf meal(SNLM) on growth and carcass parameters of growing Hubbard broiler chickens was investigated. The leaves were collected from KofoleWoreda and dried under shade to produce the leaf meal. Five iso-nitrogenous and iso-caloric grower diets, T1 (the control), T2, T3, T4 and T5 were formulated to contain 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12% of SNLM, respectively as a substitution for roasted soybean meal of T1. After 2 weeks of brooding period, 200 unsexed Hubbard chicks were weighed and randomly allocated to the dietary treatments with four replicates of 10 chickens each .At the beginning of the experiment, 10 chicks were selected and killed and put in plastic bags and kept in a deep freezer at -20oC until they were processed for whole body chemical analysis.
The security of the multimedia file is one of the central concerns in this era of online trade and communication. This paper proposes an algorithm for the robustness of authenticity of digital image against various attacks through embedding and extracting watermarking into image. Using DWT-SVD technique, the RGB colors are separated from both cover and watermark image. For watermarking process, a threshold values from R planes of the watermark image is integrated into R channel of the cover image. The experimental result shows that this method has better robustness against known attacks.
Using a developed technique of synchronous differential temperature measurements, the existence of the thermal surface energy (TSE) has been demonstrated with a huge signal-tonoise ratio in material artifacts, made of a homogeneous material, when these artefacts are irradiated by an external electromagnetic (EM) field. The TSE, presenting the energy of the oriented motion of the coupled field-particles system inside a solid-state artifact, is shown experimentally to be linearly related to the Poynting vector of the external EM field, and it results in the appearance of the thermal hysteresis effect, which is irreversible in time and has no symmetry in spaceThe experiments, presented in this paper, have shown that the principle of superposition is not valid for EM fields in case of TSE, so that the thermal evolution process, which inevitably includes the changing in time and in space the variations of the thermal surface energy, is characterized by the infinite number of correlated influence factors
