Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical statistical collection of pediatric hydrocephalus with emphasis on pathology to investigate the epidemiology of pediatric hydrocephalus. Materials and Methods: We performed respectively analysis of the pediatric patients younger than 18 years with or suspected of hydrocephalus in our neuropediatric centre since 2001. Data were obtained from our neuropediatric centre database and from hospital admission records of the university hospital of Homburg. After the patient selection procedure and sort out the hydrocephalus patients were a total of 193 children registered at the University Hospital of Homburg Children Medical Centre, between June 2001 and March 2009. The patients were under age and mechanism of hydrocephalus distributed.
Peripheral arterial disease is one of the most prevalent conditions, and it frequently associated with an increased risk of vascular disease in other parts of the body and substantial functional limitation. The initial disease process results in peripheral arterial disfunction causes turbulent flow in the arteries supplying the muscles of the lower extremities. Impaired endothelial function and limited blood flow results in an oxygen supply-demand mismatch. Early and adequate diagnosis is important for improving the patient`s quality of life and for reducing the risk of secondary vascular attacks. The presence of critical ischemia indicates the need for prompt revascularization because of high risk of limb amputation. In the healthy condition is ABI-index more than 0.90, whereas in PAD is less than 0.90 at rest with a further decrease after exercise.
The findings of strong gravitational lensing by Sgr A* indicate gravitation power/energy exist in the center of our milky way, though it is invisible. The presence of energy equal presence of mass (M= E/C², C² is constant). However, current perception of particles can be massless e.g. gauge bosons, the photon and the gluon (1) which create a centerpiece of confusion when we come to study dark matter and origin of universe. In this paper, the author will explain why all particles possess mass which is supported partially by 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics- the Higgs mechanism, which gives mass to fundamental particles. The big bang is the greatest event happened in the universe; it is unthinkable that such event left no trace in space; we must be blindfolded by something. In this paper, the author will point out what to look for so that we won’t miss out on the Universe greatest party.
Intuitively we know that any executive body in any organization in order to be effective must have limited number of its members.. By means of simple mathematical procedures and ideas of the theory of information we prove that
This study analysed foregrounding in Festus Iyayi’s three novels: Violence, Heroes, and The Contract. The aim of the study was to discover the function of foregrounding in African literature. A number of passages were extracted from the three novels, beginning with Violence followed by Heroes, and The Contract. These extracts from the three novels were passages that contained foregrounding which revealed the ideological basis of these novels. Images and symbols that projected violence, death, destruction, exploitation, oppression, deprivation, class struggle, etc as well as the plight of the poor revealed Marxism as the ideology that underpinned the three novels. Among the findings are: foregrounding in Iyayi’s novels depicts class struggle; the primary purpose of foregrounding in Iyayi’s novels is not for aesthetic effect; it portrays the less privileged characters as victims of their society; and it contributes to the success of the three novels studied.
This study assessed challenges experienced by 1,400 women distance learners in Kenyan public and private universities. A cross-sectional survey design with quantitative and qualitative approaches guided the research process. Quantitative analysis yielded descriptive statistics and severity scores; while qualitative data were transcribed, clustered into nodes and explored for emerging themes. The results showed that about 77% of the participants believed that irregular and unsystematic supply of course materials disrupted learning continuity and was considered the most severe challenge experienced by learners. Whereas, 66.9% identified the turnaround time for assignments as a problem affecting study plans, 60.7% noted that compulsory submission of assignments was a key challenge. The study recommends the need for institutions to: establish a supervisory system, linking learners with administration to ensure a consistent supply of reading materials; computerize student information system to improve administrative effectiveness; develop a master plan for tutorials; and standardize the turn-around time for assignments.
Recent years, in China, it is easy to find that we are suffering the food safety crisis. The food safety and quality are closely related to our life and draws much attention in public. However, repackaging of expired food, counterfeit and substandard food issues are very common. Even more astonishing is that even those big international supermarkets with high reputation, like Carrefour and Wal-Mart, repeated cheating customers on food issues. The reasons behind this phenomenon provoke a deep thinking
Metal removal process is one of the major methods of shaping materials to meet its environmental need. It requires the use of forces thus, heat would be generated and if not controlled, it could affect the expected end results. One of the major ways of controlling the heat during cutting is the use of lubricant. The cutting fluid commonly used for machining in a standard machine shops, are imported at exorbitant cost , hence, analysis was carried out on a vegetable oil from ground nut (GNO)and its properties were integrated by adding additive and emulsifying agents to develop it to a suitable soluble oil for machining operation. The experimental results concluded that the saturated solution of NaOCl and NACO3 when added to the GNO in ratio 1:2 formed perfect emulsiable oil (GNSO). The GNSO and conventional cutting fluid (CCF) were used to carry out machining of mild steel on a Lathe Machine. The results obtained shows that the surface finish of the sample cut with the GNSO is the finest. The two samples were observed for 70days for corrosion effect and their microscopic structure picture were observed, the sample cut with CCF was majorly affected. The reliability of the GNSO was further determined through the various soluble oil ASTM tests, least square regression analysis was used to interpret the correlation coefficient data collated which shows that GNSO is equally reliable and more cost effective than CCF since it can be sourced locally in abundant.
Conventional approaches for collecting and reporting hematological data as well as diagnosing hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, anemia, e.t.c are based on subjective professional physician personal opinions or experiences which are influenced by human error, dependent on human-to-human judgments, time consuming processes and the blood results are non-reproducible. In the light of those human limitations identified, an automatic or semi-automatic classification and corrective method is required because it reduces the load on human observers and accuracy is not affected due to fatigue. Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) as a multi-disciplinary subject that focuses on the reuse of past experiences or cases to proffer solution to new cases was adopted and combined with the power of Fuzzy logic to design a software model that will effectively mine hematology data. This study aim at helping the medical practitioners to diagnose and provide corrective treatment to both normal patients and patients with hematology disorder at the early stage which can reduce the number of deaths. This aim is achievable by developing an intelligent expert system based on fuzzy logic and case-based reasoning for classification of hematology malignancy.
Woman share in formal and informal labor market has gained much importance at national and international level. It has become the main agenda of national and international organizations for last three decades. Data collected for those women whom are contributing in the household budget through their informal economic activities is a Herculean task. The raison d’etre of our research work is to measure those factors which are affecting woman’s contribution in the household budget, particularly in the urban informal sector. Primary data were collected from urban councils of district Dera Ghazi Khan.
