This paper discusses the rationale for involvement of multiple stakeholders or actors in addressing agro-pastoral conflicts. To be able to understand the rationale, the study identified the resources at the center of agro-pastoral conflicts, identified key stakeholders to be involved in resolving the agro-pastoral conflicts and why they should be involved in resolving the conflicts and also sought to establish the mechanisms that can be adopted to ensure sustainable peace. The study used a structured questionnaire, in-depth interview schedule and an observation schedule to collect data. A standardized questionnaire was administered to selected household respondents while in-depth interviews were conducted with the teachers, religious leaders, elders and local government administrators. The data collected was analyzed descriptively using frequency tables. The findings show that there are specific resources at the center of the agropastoral conflicts; there are multiple stakeholders that are important in resolving the conflicts and that a multipronged approach will be necessary in addressing the agro-pastoral conflicts in Nakuru County.
Problem: The sequential changes in the immunogenicity of spermatozoa in male reproductive tract and the effect of seminal vesicle secretions are long thought to act as central players in influencing immunological equilibrium in the male reproductive tract. Method of Study: Popliteal lymph nodes of mice were collected on the 8th day after sensitizing them with the testicular and epididymal spermatozoa of boar, weighed, dissociated into a cell suspension and the white blood cells were counted using haemocytometer.
Along with the existence of modern content-based digital goods, a promotional premium product no longer need to be tangible - digital premiums are alternatives to traditional physical premium products. This article reports the results of an experimental study, where the purpose was to gain understanding of consumer perceptions of digital premium-based promotional offers. Three characteristics related to digital premium-based promotions were manipulated in the context of a bottled water purchase: the immediacy of receiving the premium, the method the premium is earned and the tangibility of the premium. Covariate included consumer perceptions of the promoted brand and product category both in terms of the advertised product as well as the premium product. The results show that the examined factors have interactive effects on consumer perceptions. Of the three factors, immediate premium reception had the most impact on the overall appreciation of the promotion and was less likely to be perceived as manipulative. Managerial implications as well as suggestions for future research are provided.
Introduction: The tendency to use eponyms and traditional anatomic terms when identifying anatomic structures, often used by the medical community in general, and more often used locally at the surgical sphere, has become deeply rooted. However, both anatomy teaching and international publications today use the International Anatomical Terminology (IAT), effective since 1998 to encourage the use of a universal, uniform and updated terminology. The IAT, as the official list of anatomical structures, aims at facilitating communication and understanding among health professional globally. Objective: To demonstrate use of the traditional anatomical terminology that employs eponyms in scientific publications in Argentina. Material And Methods: A statistical retrospective study was performed in which 91 articles published in the Argentinean Journal of Surgical Residents from 2008 to 2013 were reviewed and compared. Reference to anatomical structures was reviewed, as well as its frequency and use.
The dancer’s body is the first tool for implementation (or incapacitation), as it were, that is found in the active or inactive endeavours of every individual whether one is a performer of not. This study looks at the dancer’s healthy behaviour to underscore beauty, grace and precision in body movement. It adopted the analytical approach to study the findings of some science scholars to arrive at our findings which is summarized thus “you are what you eat” and “your performance, your healthy behaviour”. An actor or dancer must maintain good healthy life to stay longer as a performing artiste and to continue to attract good patronage.
Management of sludge produced in urban sewage filtration plants is essential and inevitable due to great volume of water, contamination with pathogens, organic material and high expenses of such filtrations. Purpose of this research is to evaluate the possibility of using urban sewage sludge in producing light concrete. In order to conduct this study, mouldswith dimensions of 15 x 15 x 15 cm were prepared. In each series of production of light concrete samples, dry sludge was taken from Ghods filtration plant and lime was added to the sludge 24 hours before making concrete samples, in order to increase its pH to 12 and destroy microorganisms. Sludge was used at the weight percentages of 0. 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 of the cement , and the produced concretes were tested for pressure resistance after being processed with the moisture caused from perspiration of the blocks at the ages of 7, 28 and 90 days and determination of the specific gravity.
Innovation and technology are important catalyst in wealth creation and development of societies and nations. Progress in science is advanced by dissemination of know-how, whether by original innovation or by reverse engineering of existing technology. While original innovation is the standard in this regard, the open secret to boosting economic growth has been said to be reverse engineering, which basically involves the creation of inventions and innovations from the study of existing technology. Reverse engineering is said to lead to faster development and innovations as the creations are based on an existing design and less time and fund is spent on trial and error while working on original inventions. China is one of many nations that discovered this well kept open secret decades ago and are currently harvesting the benefits of its use. It has used reverse engineering to rise and transform itself from a developing nation to one of the largest economies in the world, with the highest economic growth rate in the world today. Nigeria, on the other hand can at best be described as a new born, where reverse engineering for economic growth is concerned.
In this highly competitive world, success of any organization depends on its human resource. Banks are no exception to this. A satisfied, happy and hard working employee is the biggest resource of any organization, including banks. Workforce of any bank is responsible to a large extent for its higher productivity and higher profitability and higher shareholders value and also plays a vital role in underpinning the economic development of a country. In view of this widespread belief an attempts has been made in the present study to evaluate the job satisfaction level of employees in HDFC bank in Kashmir division. The study also focused on the impact of different demographic factors like, age, gender, income, education, position and marital status on the overall job satisfaction level of employees. The study used independent student t-test and one-way ANOVA to unearth the variation, if any, between overall job satisfaction level and control/demographic variables. Based on the data gathered from two hundred respondents, the results showed that employees are satisfied with their jobs in the said bank. The study further revealed that employees with higher age groups, higher salaries, and higher managerial positions are more satisfied than other groups. This paper presents a comprehensive diagnosis of job satisfaction indices of HDFC bank and the factors causing the dissatisfaction and provides suggestions to improve them.
Tiger nut tubers (Cyperus esculentus L) milk and egusi melon (Colocynthis citrullus) seeds milk were selected for production of candies. The candies developed from tiger nuts and egusi melon seeds milk and their blends were subjected to sensory and physicochemical analysis. Results showed that the candies had no significant difference (p<0.05) in acceptability of sensory parameters viz, appearance, taste, flavour, and mouth feel. Sample 70:30 (70% tiger nuts milk and 30% melon seeds milk candy) was significantly (p<0.05) lower than other samples in terms of general acceptability while 100% tiger nut milk candy was most preferred. The candies and the milk had vitamin compositions ranging from 0.04mg/100 to 0.06mg/100 vitamin A and 0.09mg/100 to 0.91mg/100 vitamin C. Protein and minerals like sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium were significantly increased (p<0.05) in 100% tiger nut milk candy while iron was higher in 100% melon milk candy.
During the NAFTA negotiations, the impact that the execution of this Agreement would imply was comprehensively speculated and investigated. It was guaranteed, among other things, that Mexico would be the country with the greatest impact and a significant number of analysts pointed out that said impact would be positive (Lustig, 1992). While it was additionally mentioned that there would be some problems in sectors such as agriculture —where Mexico would be a losing country—, overall it was argued that there would be a greater growth for our country, that also the reforms initiated with the assumption of the Washington Consensus were going to be secured1 Since the early 1980s the country began to experience very important reforms regarding the previous growth model. Along with the accelerated openness that started in the mid-1980s with the entrance to the GATT, public companies began to be privatized (the government productive, financial and services capacity was reduced from 1090 entities, in the beginning of 1984, to 258 in 1994), the structure of public expenditure was modified, and the high public deficit became a surplus, fighting inflation and financial openness were prioritized and deregulation of the economy started., that the country would grow more, that most of the jobs would be created in Mexico and that there would even be a resource mobilization towards Mexico.
