- AbstractThe main aims of this study to investigate the impact of the determinant of portfolio return performance during and post finical market crisis based on the most active firms listed on Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) for the period from 2008 to 2012 has been studied. In this study, using the framework of the Capital Assets Pricing Model (CAPM) as considered to be a centrepiece inoptimal portfolio determinants. An important contribution of this framework is that it allows toderive optimal portfolio implications for economies in which the degree of correlation acrossdifferent finical sectors. The test data set is the monthly prices based on 59 samples of the mostactive companies. This empirical study proposed that this is not a normal cyclical crisis ofcapitalism but a global crisis, which requires a change in the management policy to be tackled withnew regulatory frameworks for financial institutions in order to stimulate economic activities. Theresults show that there is a difference finding during these two periods where risk is negative andsignificant during finical market crisis period (2008- 2009) but positive and significant after thefinical market crisis period (2010-2012). Further resultsshow that when the return on the otherfactors is inserted in the model, this relation remains significant during and post finical marketcrisis for asset correlation and investment risk. Furthermore, paper of the proposed model in otheremerging countries could be performed in order to raise further explanation of the model and to reveal more generalised findings.
The article presents a theoretical-empirical reflection about concepts, models, and practices of Job Diagnostic Survey Model for computing Motivating Potential Score (MPS) of employees of public and private commercial banks in Bangladesh with demographics influence. Empirical part of this study comprises 130 samples, have been collected through a structured questionnaire. The study reveals that demographic factors such as education, marital status, gender, experience, age, salary and designation have insignificant influence on Motivating Potential Score. The study also reveals that Motivating Potential Score of private commercial bank is slightly higher than public commercial bank but mean difference is statistically insignificant on one way ANOVA statistics at the five percent level of significance. The study concludes that MPS properties closer to a particular job irrespective to the demographics and nature of the organization.
Intuitionistic fuzzy set has proven interesting and useful in providing a flexible framework or model to elaborate uncertainty and vagueness involved in decision making. In this paper, we proposed the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) in career determination. Solution is obtained by looking for the smallest distance between each student and each career.
- This study aimed to measure the impact of banking risk which represented "liquidity risk, credit risk, and interest rate risk" on the degree ofsafety for traditional (commercial) Jordanian banks. A sample of Jordanian traditional banks wasused during the period (2000-2011).The methodology which used to analyze the impact of bankingrisks on the degree of safety in commercial banks is the multiple linear regression. The studyhypotheses were tested independently for each type of risk. The results showed a statisticallysignificant relationship between bank risk and the degree of safety for Jordanian commercial banks. The study recommended that the risk management should be subject to a continuous surveillance bythe management, with focus on credit risk. Also, sources and usages of funds should be identifiedand determined, considering the main targets for banks. ( I.e. liquidity, profitability andsafety). Developing appropriate mechanisms to deal with the bank risk, the statement of seriousnesson banks and continues development of regulatory controls are also recommended.
The Export processing zone (EPZ) has been playing a vital role in Bangladesh economy after 1990 although for the first time it was established in the year 1983. In Bangladesh, it has contributed very effectively in the economy in terms of the foreign direct investment (FDI), export and employment for the last ten years especially in Bangladesh’s Export-Processing Zones (BEPZs). This study intends to explore the EPZ’s performance and its benefits in Bangladesh economy in terms of employment, investment and volume of export in details. It attempts to examine eight BEPZs performance in terms of their size, location, and infrastructure and find out why foreign investors are interested to get involved in BEPZs. This study focuses on the performance of the BEPZs between 1983 and 2012. Data (authentic secondary source) were being collected from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone (BEPZA) official website.
This paper examines the effect of urbanization on house rent in Ilorin Nigeria. It appraises the level of urbanization in Ilorin under historical periods of pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era. The data used for the study were obtained from random sampling of 150 household in the metropolitan area of Ilorin. The information on the trend of house rent for period of ten years (2003-2012) were obtained through structured questionnaire administered in the study area. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine relationship between urbanization and house rent. Findings from this study show that there was relatively slow urban growth in the pre-colonial era. Colonial period witnessed a relatively phenomenal growth, while post-colonial era recoded a high level of urban growth in terms of population and land consumption. Also, results from regression analysis shows a significant relationship between urbanization and house rent at F- value of 216.535 and P- value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Moreover, with correlation coefficient (R) of 0.995 and coefficient of Multiple Determination (R 2 ) of 0.991, about 99% of variation in trend of house rent might be attributed to a magnitude increase in urbanization trend. The paper recommends among others that in order to arrest the rapid urbanization in urban centres government should place emphasis and a higher priority on the establishment of rural industries, the creation of other forms of employment and the provision of more adequate infrastructural and other services in the rural areas.
This paper is devoted to study of a pair of unified and extended fractional integral operators involving the multivariable H-Function, I-Function and general class of polynomials. Mellin transforms of these operators are investigated. Further, some properties of these operators have also been investigated. On account of the general nature of the functions involved herein, a large number of fractional integral operators involving simpler functions can be obtained as special cases of our main results.
Portfolio is an appropriate collection or list of investments held by an organization or an individual where Portfolio optimization means to calculate the optimal weights for the collection or list of investments that gives the highest return with least risk. In previous works on this topic did not consider correlation factor and epistemic uncertainty on returns. In our model both the factors are considered because correlation between the assets exists in real life and epistemic uncertainty may exist in different rate of return of different assets. In this work two models are developed to optimize a portfolio. Two models are Optimization model without EU and Optimization model with EU. By optimization we can decide the assets on which we can invest, how much to invest and can take divestment decisions.
Taraba State is well endowed with abundant surface water which includes ponds and rivers. This include rivers Benue (second largest river in Nigeria which traverse the state for over 390km), Taraba and Donga and their tributaries. The state has about 500,000 hectares of water body and 142 natural ponds. Fishery is therefore an important local resource bases of the rural communities in the State especially those along the river Benue. Conflict over access and ownership of this local resource base as a result of increasing population and demand for fish has been a source of concern to many people in recent times. This study examines the challenges of the fishery management practices in the local community in the face of declining fishery resources, increase degradation and climate change among others. The study focuses on artisanal inland fishery on the River Benue and its tributaries using the case study of Mayo Ranewo. It considers the challenges of operating fisheries in a sustainable way, the principles and management practices adopted in the rural community. The survey design method was used to collect data. The instrument involves the use of questionnaire which was randomly administered on 65 respondents in Mayo Ranewo community. Focus group discussion method was also used to generate additional information to compliment the questionnaire data. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data collected. The study is important because it provide information that will guide small scale fisheries management in the face of social, economic and environmental changes and allow for more adaptive response to new circumstances and opportunities.
This paper presents how Shakespeare through his writing always juxtaposes the philosophy of our own life. He is the best to portray human character which outdoes even the portrayal of Christopher Marlowe. He has written with a great charm of artistic beauty filled with moral vision. His supremacy lies in the fact that he can pierce very deeply the heart of so many passions accepting the respect of life. His writing combines so many unique phrases, exquisite metaphors and inverted sentences. So students of all levels must gain some knowledge from Shakespeare’s writings.
