This paper investigated the political economy of mass transit programme in Nigeria using federal government post-petroleum subsidy removal intervention as a case study. The primary objective of the study is to determine the impact of the intervention on the socio-economic and mobility hardship that resulted from the removal of the subsidy. With the aid of secondary and primary sources of data collection, the paper observed that contrary to its original aim, the mass transit programme now pursues elites’ economic interest. It further observed that the programme became an instrument of political settlement and a capitalist programme for profit maximisation because all the government owned mass transit companies have been commercialised. It observed also that the intervention has no positive impact on the socio-economic and mobility hardship of the people. Thus, the paper recommends a reversal of the commercialisation of mass transit companies, government donation of vehicles to labour unions and government own transport companies.
Ethical business attempts to establish justice to all of its stakeholders by satisfying their ethical desires. But lack of ethical desires of the stakeholders is a major hindrance to developing an ethical business. In a larger-scale-enterprise, owner, management, and accountant play vital role in initiating, establishing, and ensuring ethical guidelines for all of its stakeholders. In the way to ethical business development, one or two of these three parties are not able to ensure justice independently rather needs a mutual cooperation
The utilization of energy from fossil fuels has becoming important driver and plays a vital rolefor all the economies. The alternative resources have wider concerns over the issues of energy security and sustainable development in the sector. In this context, for meeting the national power deficit and addition to thermal power generation capacity, power generation from thermal plants has been a very important history of the Indian power sector.
he quest for identity construction knew its apogee in the burgeoning Caribbean literature of the 1950’s, a period marked by a great tide of immigration to London and the exile of a significant number of West Indian writers. This exile generation of West Indian writers, including leading figures such as George Lamming, Samuel Selvon, Andrew Salkey, Edward Kamau Brathwaite, V.S Naipaul, was concerned with depicting their West Indian experience and dealing with issues revolving around liberty and identity.
Educational Stress is a problem for many adolescents in our society posing serious threat to significant mental problems and poor performance. Using a repeated measure design, the participants’ educational stress and impact of chanting mantras was explored. An ANOVA of the order of 2x2x(2) with repeated measure was employed in the present research to gauge the effect of chanting mantras if any between the control group and the experimental group in the two genders from pre to post test on different domains of educational stress. The sample consisted of 200 adolescents (100 males, 100 females) from senior secondary schools of Shimla district of H.P. between the ages of 14 to 17 years and was administered the educational stress scale (Sun, Dunne, Hou & Xu, 2011). The criterion of 𝑿𝑿+1/2SD was employed for selecting the adolescents higher on educational stress. The main findings are: 1) The main effects of group and treatment have turned out to be significant at .01 level; 2) the interaction effects of treatment x group and treatment x gender have also yielded significant F ratios thereby revealing the significant impact of chanting mantras in combating the stress of the adolescents.
The aim of this article is to look at the transmutation of former rebel groups into political parties in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire afterlong bloody civil wars that claimed thousands of lives in West Africa. One of the foci of post-conflicts transformation is peacebuilding that has many features such as the organization of free and fair elections in order to encourage the former belligerents to embrace multiparty elections as a way to settle grievances through democratic means for peace to return to these countries and by replacing insecurity with security and violence with peace as well as economic reconstruction, political stability and social justice.
Investigated directly proportional dependence of the energy end mass of a physical object on the strength of the vortex gravitation, which created the object.
This Study is devoted to the characterization of mechanical properties of a date palm Wood fiber (DPF).We propose to measure mass loss, tensile strength, Young modulus and elongation at failure. The use of natural fibers requires specific chemical treatments to address mechanical performance due to water absorption. For this reason an alkaline (NaOH) treatment of different samples at different concentrations was carried. We submit after that the samples to a Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) to measure the influence of soda treatment on the mass loss. In a second time, mechanical properties were studied of untreated and treated samples. Thus we can access to the elasticity limit, tensile strength and Young modulus E. The results led us to conclude that treatment of Palm fibers with soda at different concentrations results in a significant improvement of the mechanical properties.
Employee turnover is an endemic issue in hospitality industry, worldwide. Employee turnover intention acts as a proxy for actual employee turnover. One of the challenging issues faced by the hospitality organizations today is to manage the changing employment relationship. Being in customer service business, hospitality industry capitalizes heavily on its human resources in order to achieve its competitive advantage. Choi and Dickson (2009) emphasized that the hospitality industry is a highly guest service–oriented business where encounters between employees and guests determine the success of the business.
This paper presents an approach to perform aircraft actuator Acceptance Testing capability. Efforts include design and development of Test system for Electro Hydraulic aircraft actuator, in nominal condition that may be used along with measurement data to generate effective test results. LabVIEW platform is used for developing the test system. To develop communication between the LabVIEW based Test software and Actuator, Portable Test Controller (PTC), is used.
