The landmark 1967 Loving vs. Virginia Supreme Court ruling ended anti-miscegenation laws in America. However, the historic event did not change how interracial marriages were viewed from a societal standpoint (Alonso, 2000). Although such unions have increased in the 21st century, problems associated with acceptance still abound (Jayson, 2011). The purpose of this qualitative research study is to explore how faith impacts Black-White Christian marriages. Does it help these couples cope with adversity and/or handle daily struggles better than those who do not share the same beliefs? Or, is there no significant difference at all? William Gudykunst’s (1995) Anxiety-Uncertainty Management Theory will serve as a theoretical framework for the study. It contends the development of healthy interethnic relations and flexible interactions require a high degree of intergroup communication, and in the same vein, a heightened level of out-group communication (Matusitz, 2012). Ideas for further research will also be explored.
The geographic distribution of Elachistocleis bicolor (Anura: Microhylidae) extends over several biomes in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Brazil. In Brazil, this species was reported to occur in the States of Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. The current study reports the first record of E. bicolor for the state of Rondônia, Brazil, extending its distribution in 350 km eastwards from closest records in Beni, Bolivia and 715 km southwestwards from closest records in Amazonas.
Sylvia Plath has been assumed as one which was significant due to her position as a female poet (6). However the growing feminist trend in the 1970s enabled a number of critics to look deeper into her work and identify the contribution made by Plath to American literature. There were several critics who presented positive criticism about Plath including the work by Aird "Sylvia Plath: The Woman and Her Work" (1973)," The Art of Sylvia Plath (1970)" . During the early point of her life which may be termed as the early Smith years the poetry written by Plath was measured and moderately good. She demonstrated the ability to narrow down on a topic but did not demonstrate the depth of voice. Her poems reflected her need to learn by presenting focus on a wide range of poetic elements including syllabics, length of lines and stanzas. She worked hard to present perfection by focusing on using thesaurus and push herself through every poem written. Her poetry was centered around the work of a number of well known poets including Dylan Thomas, Wallace Stevens and Auden W H.Apart from poetry her interest revolved around writing for influential women’s magazines of her era in America. Most of her earliest efforts to establish herself as a contemporary American poet was faced with rejection initially. She however found a small modicum of success in her works.
True umbilical cord knot is one of the abnormalities of the umbilical cord which is a rare occurrence. Constriction of a true knot of the umbilical cord may lead to obstruction of the fetal circulation and subsequent intrauterine death. We present a 20yr old primigravid,a who had a normal vaginal delivery with a true knot of the umbilical cord identified.
Coal mining practices in India have a long history. On a commercial scale mainly British companies started it in India. From its very first day exploitation of coal reserve started and it resulted into the environmental degradation through various ways. It is a topic of research importance because now a day the environmental problem is a burning global issue. Now a day if one observes any coal-mining project in India the truth aforesaid will automatically reveal. There is destruction of vegetation, soil resource, water resource; underground resource and great intensity of various pollutions have been observed. In short an inhuman treatment is meted out to the environment by modern civilization. The Raniganj Coal Field of Eastern Coal Field Ltd. and Jharia coalfield of BCCL are not an exception in this regard. Eminent Research scholars have done many research works in India regarding coalfield. But here the author wants to emphasize the environmental impact of the Raniganj and Jharia coal mining projects through this research work. Though coal is an essential resource but protection of environment is not less important. The author wants to disclose all the environmental impact of coal mining projects with its possible preventive measures. So the environmental impacts of coal mining projects are immense which will also help understand the development of Raniganj and Jharia coalmines.
Trustworthiness especially for service oriented system is very important topic now a day in IT field of the whole world. There are many successful E-commerce organizations presently run in the whole world, but E-commerce has not reached its full potential. The main reason behind this is lack of Trust of people in e-commerce. Again, proper models are still absent for calculating trust of different e-commerce organizations. Most of the present trust models are subjective and have failed to account vagueness and ambiguity of different domain. In this paper we have proposed a new fuzzy logic based Certain Trust model which considers these ambiguity and vagueness of different domain. Fuzzy Based Certain Trust Model depends on some certain values given by experts and developers can be applied in a system like cloud computing, internet, website, e-commerce, etc. to ensure trustworthiness of these platforms. In this paper we show, although fuzzy works with uncertainties, proposed model works with some certain values. Some experimental results and validation of the model with linguistics terms are shown at the last part of the paper.
This paper attempts to unveil the cultural, socio- political and socio-economic correlates of begging in cities, particularly of developing countries. With illustrations from Islamic and Christian scriptures, and examples from cities across the world, with a particular emphasis on, Nigeria, the paper establishes the impacts of the different composite factors of religion, culture, polity, and socio-economy on begging. The paper sees poverty and other socioeconomic factors as central issues in addressing the problem of begging in cities. It identifies or rather, generates certain constructs and hypotheses, which may provide a suitable platform for empirical studies on the phenomenon.
Nigeria witnessed the emergence of Boko Haram - an Islamic sect - in 2002 and its active insurgency since 2009. This paper studies the Boko Haram and its operations with a view to determine its relationship with Northern struggle for political hegemony. With the aid of secondary method of data collection and Islamic fundamentalist theory as framework of analysis, the paper observed that the primary goals of the sect are the overthrow of none Muslim and moderate Muslim government and the Islamization of Nigeria. It observed also that the sect receives financial, administrative and security support from many top Northern Islamic politicians, serving political office holders and Northern members of the armed forces. Finally, government anti-terrorism campaign has drastically reduced the spread, success and regularity of Boko Haram insurgency. The paper therefore recommends punitive anti-terrorism laws, and the adoption of state of emergency as a regular approach to fighting terrorism among others in Nigeria.
This study evaluated working postures adopted by construction workers in Southwestern Nigeria. The objective was to compare risk factors among the group of workers. About 844 working postures were analyzed using Ovako Working Postures Analyzing System (OWAS). Semi-structured interviews were also conducted on different body regions regarding work related pains for 250 healthy Bricklayers (BL) and Bricklayers’ Assistants (BA). More than forty nine percent (49%) of the postures observed were classified as Action Family 3 (AF3) (distinctly harmful) and AF4 (Action Family 4) (extremely harmful). The percentage of harmful postures for BL was higher with fifty one (51%) of the total recorded postures. Less than 10% of the total workers reported to have adopted ergonomics training and found it secured. Meanwhile more than sixty percent (60%) of them complained of pains in their various body regions. The study revealed that majority of the workers had no exposure to ergonomics training hence adopted harmful postures at work. BL are at a higher risk. Advancement in practical ergonomics trainings on safe postures in manual lifting tasks is a necessity.
In this article, an enhanced 􁈺􀡳􀔢 􀈀􀡳􁈻-expansion method has been applied to find the traveling wave solutions of the (3+1)-dimensional Zakhrov-Kuznetsov (ZK) equation. The efficiency of this method for finding these exact solutions has been demonstrated. As a result, a set of complexiton soliton solutions are derived, which are expressed by the combinations of rational, hyperbolic and trigonometric functions involving several parameters. It is shown that the method is effective and can be used for many other nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs) in mathematical physics.
