A set of 97 actinomycete strains which were isolated from 24 marine samples such as sea water, sea sediments, sponges, and corals obtained from Tiruchendur and Kulasekarapattinam, Tamilnadu state, India. The actinomycetes isolated from these eco systems are capable of producing antibiotics that strongly inhibit the growth of gram positive and gram negative bacteria and yeast like fungi. A total of 27 isolates representing the range of morphological diversity observed from each sample, were obtained in pure culture. However of the 27, four were found to produce antibiotic substances. KSP-SS-06-1C/1 exhibited higher activity and was, therefore selected for further studies. The purification and characterization of the substances is now in progress.
The main objective of the proposed architecture is preserving the privacy of the information ensuring that this information cannot be misused. In this paper we have proposed secure cloud architecture to address the user privacy problem in a cloud. By using OTP and WTP in cloud computing system, our proposed architecture achieves better goal of preserving the privacy of a user.
Integration is an approach/process which can be used in the educational sector to create a madani generation of multidisciplinary knowledge.Integration is defined as a merger between two or several races (factors, sectors etc) as a union or consolidation. The Muslims are obligated to master various forms of knowledge beginning with the Islamic traditional knowledge of faith (akidah), syariah and morals (akhlak). The understanding of the Islamic knowledge together with that of the modern world’s can lead to the emergence of new modern knowledge in line with Islamic requirements.Islam never forbids the Muslims to learn foreign knowledge, in fact it is highly recommended. This paper hopes to highlight the concept of integration of knowledge from Islamic perspectives and the challenges that need to be addressed to make it a reality for the society. The application of western knowledge leads to the spread of secularinfluence in the educational system of a nation, which in turn leads to the gradual loss of Islamic identity of the society. Therefore, the approach to the integration of Islamic knowledge and that of the West needs to be seen as an alternative for the society in leading their everyday lives based on the true teachings of Islam.
The petrographic and geochemical study of sandstones of Eze-Aku Formation (Turonian) outcropping in Ugep area southern Benue Trough Nigeria was carried out to ascertain the sandstone provenance and tectonic setting. Field studies show that the sandones occur in linear, parallel northeast-southwest trending ridges alternating with shale sequence. The sandstone facies show coarsening upward sequence, slightly bioturbated, cross-stratified, rippled bedded which infer foreshore to shallow marine below wave base. Petrographic studies show the occurrence of quartz, feldspar, rock fragments and muscovite. The calculated framework grains suggest feldsparthic (subarkosic) sandstone. The geochemical analysis of the major elements of the sandstones show that they are enriched in SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 and depleted in K2O, Na2O, MgO and CaO. Tectonic setting discrimination plot diagrams based on major elements suggest the provenance for the sandstones to be of metamorphic and igneous rocks of Passive Continental Margin Basin. The results of petrographic and geochemical study suggest Oban Massif and Cameroon Basement as the source regions for the sandstone which are characterized by humid climate and low-relief during the Turonian.
In residential buildings, low cost is a vital demand. Slab made of brick module with or without beam is found to be practiced locally. Moreover brick masonry slab is easy to construct and durable with respect to fire proofing and corrosion if nominal or zero reinforcement is possible. Therefore a study was under taken in the Department of Civil Engineering, KUET to investigate the long-term performance of brick masonry slab of dimensions 1.52m × 3.65m, with a slab thickness of 75mm. Tests were performed subjected to static, repeated and impact loading system. Test results revealed that brick masonry slab did not failed and no crack were observed though it was loaded by a uniform pressure of 12kN/m2. Similar phenomena were observed when repeated load up to12kN/m2 was imposed on the slab. However punching shear failure was observed when an impact load was applied 9 times by a hammer of 23kg of 1m free fall. Combined failure both in joint and brick module was observed.
The shortcomings of the “traditional” concept of seismic intensity from the viewpoint of requirements of accuracy of input data to be used in specific engineering activities are recognized on one hand. An illustrative case of deriving wrong conclusions due to some of these shortcomings is referred to. On the other hand, the importance of the concept of seismic intensity for the management of a large, worldwide, treasury of information and for some current activities too, is also recognized. An attempt of bridging the gap between engineering requirements and the use of the concept of seismic intensity is presented, introducing alternative approaches to the definition of seismic intensity, relying on specific instrumental information. The main reasons of proposals are discussed. The main starting points are presented too. This is followed by analytical developments related to the features of alternative definitions proposed. Some illustrative cases dealt with on the basis of these developments are then presented. A short look at conclusions derived and on desirable future activities is then dealt with.
Proof of controlling crack width is a basic condition for securing suitable performance in ser-viceability limit state. Most codes struggle with offering procedure for crack width calculation. So did the former Euro Code [ENV 1992-1-1:dec. 1991] and the present [BS EN 1992-1-1:2004]. Both contain a proce-dure, rendering almost identical calculation results, however aiming mainly to pure bending while eccentric load is practically out of the scope. A simplified procedure is offered here aiming to fill this gap via a very simple transformation leaving the principles of the Euro Code unchanged. Numerical examples demonstrate the application of the suggested procedure. Comparison with parallel analytical tools support the validity of the results thus obtained. The procedure is simple, user friendly and ready to be involved in code drafting.
Many social media adopt a ranking method in which comments are ranked in the order of the number of ratings attached to each comment. However, this method has the disadvantage of ratings being concentrated on comments posted at an early stage. Even if there are high-quality comments posted later, most of them are buried without being noticed. This paper proposes a ranking method that considers not only the ratings for each comment but also the previous ratings the comment poster has received. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated through a simulation. We demonstrate that with the proposed method, high-quality comments are displayed in the higher positions regardless of the posting period.
This article analyses as a specific war of attrition, the armed conflict between a dictatorial power and the civilian population during the sharing of national wealth resulting from the exploitation of natural resources. There is asymmetry of information on the minimum share of wealth expected by every party. Unlike the traditional approach of war of attrition that requires a player who leaves first, the competition gains nothing, my approach assumes that: The civilian population earns at least its minimum share of wealth expected, regardless of the period where it leaves the competition.
Hyperstar is most economical store with best quality produsts in different verity. It has 47 stores in 16 countries. Hyperstar management follows the roles of distribution networks. The availability of products at this store is very impressive. They have 100,000 products in their stock. They follow the Push and Pull strategies to supply chain management. Implementation of cyclic view of supply chain management is so much effective in hyperstore. In this research I collect data from the employees of hyperstar. The sample size is 10. SPSS software use to analyze the data. Chisquare test use to analyze the data also the T-test as well. Supply chain management and distribution networks can make much difference in the sales. Availability of products at hyperstar, only possible when they maintain their distribution networks.
