The living conditions in Nigeria’s prisons are very terrible and incapable of guaranteeing expected reformation of inmates. The reason being that there is general paucity in infrastructures, policies, workshops and corrupt disposed system. Given this background the main thrust of this study was to examine the impact of prison reforms on the welfare of the inmates. To achieve the purpose of this study two research questions were raised, which preceded the hypotheses. The design was empirical inquiry (expost facto). The population of the study consisted of all staff and inmates in the study area. A simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample size of two hundred. Pearson product moment correlation co-efficient served as the statistical instrument. The result of the analysis shows that: poor remuneration and absence of reformatory facilities militate against reforms workability. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made which include amongst others, the need for a body established by law and charged with the responsibility of visiting prisons with a view to identifying and proffering solutions to the immediate problems of the system, and inmates should be realistically introduced to useful trade that are geared toward occupational reality of the world outside prison.
Accurate forecasting of share prices is needed for fund managers and institutional investors for hedging decisions. Robust forecasting results will not only increase the effectiveness of hedging and reduce the hedging costs but also provide benchmarks for controlling and decision making. Existing traditional models for forecasting share prices rarely produce fair results. In this paper we have applied neural net work ADALINE approach to forecast the share prices listed in the Malaysian stock exchange.Adaptive linear neural net uses a moving window approach in updating its weights while training and this improves the accuracy of forecasting. We applied this technique on four share prices at four learning rates and the results nicely converge with the actual prices at higher learning rates. Our findings will increase the confidence in forecasting and will be helpful for stakeholders immensely.
This paper seeks with the comparative analysis of MAC protocols in wireless cellular networks. Theory begins with a short overview of basic cellular networks. Then special MAC algorithms for world of wireless are discussed according to the particular type of wireless networks like wireless cellular networks. A description of these algorithms and protocols together with their issues and comparison is given in this paper. Finally, the comparison of different forms of wireless network systems with respect to the MAC algorithms belong to them is presented.
The object of this paper is to study a type of non-flat differentiable manifold called Generalized Pseudo Symmetric, Generalized Pseudo Ricci symmetric, Generalized Ricci Recurrent, Semi pseudo symmetric and Semi pseudo Ricci symmetric manifold in a Lo rentzian para-Sasakian manifold.
Fast and frequent change in technology has put the present day employee under pressure. This pressure has impact on employee’s personality dimensions and consequently on employee’s performance. So, one of the most critical issue of modern era is to study the impact of changing psychological dimensions on employee’s performance. This research was aimed to study effects of improved psychological traits like self image and agreeableness on employee performance. Statistical universe for this study was the employees having experience of more than three years from governmental and non-governmental organizations. Employee Performance, Agreeableness and self image among managers were assessed by using the employee performance inventory developed by researchers, Agreeableness Measuring Scale (AMS) (Rishipal & Jain, N., 2012) and The State Self-Esteem scale (SSES) (Heatherton & Policy, 1991) respectively. A cross-sectional and longitudinal study was conducted by using the before and after with control group research design to compare the performance of treatment group consisting of the low performer employees having lower tendency of agreeableness and self-image and control group consisting of the high performer employees having higher tendency of agreeableness and self-image. Control and treatment group were formed by adopting the sampling technique of randomization on availability basis. Before treatment both the control and treatment group were tested. The mean scores for employee performance (EP), agreeableness (Ag.) and self-image (SI) for control group were 24.27, 213.76 and 79.69 respectively whereas the mean scores of test group before treatment for employee performance (EP), agreeableness (Ag.) and self-image (SI) were 10.28, 90.23 and 33.98 respectively. There was significant difference between the pre and post treatment mean scores values of Employee Performance (Meanpre-treatment = 10.28 & Meanpost-treatment = 23.57), Agreeableness (Meanpre-treatment = 90.23
The study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of feeding cassava leaf silage (CLS) and cassava peels (CP) on performance characteristics and some haematological parameters of West African Dwarf (WAD) sheep. Nine sheep were randomly allotted into three treatments, with three sheep per treatment. The control diet (T1) consisted of grass, while sheep in (T2) and (T3) were fed with CLS and CP at 1.5% of their body weight, respectively for a period of seven weeks. The average daily weight gain, body length, withers height and heart girth were measured at weekly intervals. In addition, blood samples were collected at the beginning and end of the experiment and analyzed for PCV, WBC, Lymphocyte and Neutrophil count. Statistical analysis showed that animals fed with CP had a significant weight gain (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in wither height, body length and heart girth, respectively. However, there was a significant differences (P<0.05) in the haematological parameters measured. No mortality was recorded during the experiment. It can be concluded that CLS and CP are good feed resources for maintaining sheep during the dry season.
The image comprises of the text- and content-based features. Images can be represented using both text-and content-based features. Web information fusion can be defined as the problem of collating and tracking information related to specific topics on the World Wide Web. But the main concern is image and text association, a cornerstone of crossmedia web information fusion. Two methods have been described .The first method based on vague transformation measures the information similarity between the visual features and the textual features through a set of predefined domainspecific information categories. Another method uses a neural network to learn direct mapping between the visual and textual features by automatically and incrementally summarizing the associated features into a set of information templates. Despite their distinct approaches, our experimental results on a terrorist domain document set show that both methods are capable of learning associations between images and texts from a small training data set. Another method en- compasses a variety of techniques relating to document summarization and text- and content-based image retrieval. The text-based approaches described uti- lize the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) synonymy to identify concepts in information requests and image-related text in order to re-trieve semantically relevant images. Our image content-based approaches utilize similarity metrics based on computed visual concepts" and low- level image features to identify visually similar images. The edge model for image and text association detects sharp changes in image brightness and captures important events and changes in properties of the world. This paper discuss about the analysis of the previous work done so that we can suggest an enhanced fusion method for text and Image association.
The purpose of this system is to enhance the online shopping sites by creating a new method with different services that allow the client to browser, search, compare, decide and purchase product with flexibility and high efficiency. When the customer browse the market website he can get all shopping steps and functions very simple passing the search, compare and payment three main functions in the site, it has a new flexible methods to help the user to search and compare very quick and let him/her to choose the way of payment he want or dividing it to several parts and use more than one method to pay the price. In this way we can achieve a more users and searchers which can promise a high percentage of sales. The convenience is important for online shopping, and the good designed and structured site will take more users and lead to a good business. ASP.NET is the implementation tool for this website, Microsoft SQL server is used for database management.
In this paper, we modify the classical theory of sheaves, in such a way that it includes applications where more than one restriction map between sections are needed, we also show how the class of multi-presheaves on a topological space may be made into a category, with suitable notion of morphisms based on a generalization of natural transformation. Several examples are given.
This paper describes the development of a new acoustic planar array antenna system to produce beam steering patterns for Doppler sodar applications. The antenna has been integrated with the tweeter elements that enable the beam to be steered in the desired direction. Experiments have been conducted in sodar laboratory to confirm that the beam forming and echo detection functions very well. As a result, it is found that the beam is maintained in the desired direction with a beam width of 10°, and the normalized field pattern of planar array as a function of its position is observed for varying frequencies. The antenna contains distributed transmit (TX) and receive (RX) modules, and generates one fan beam on transmit, and a number of simultaneous pencil beams on receive.
