The objective of this paper is to make the theory of Linear canonical transform mathematically rigorous. Here we define the linear canonical transform on the Zemanian space 􀤝, the space of functions of rapid descent, and prove some results. We have also discussed some operation formulae for linear canonical transform on this space.
The effect of methanol extract of root bark of Azadirachta indica was investigated in mice to evaluate the antiulcerogenic activity. Total phenolics were also determined. The root barks of have been extracted by Azadirachta indica successive solvent extraction method. Extracts were subjected to phytochemical analysis and total phenolics were also determined by the modified Folin-Ciocalteu method. The parameters taken to assess anti-ulcer activity were volume of gastric secretion, pH, free acidity, total acidity, and ulcer index and % ulcer protection. The results indicated that the methanol extract significantly (p< 0.001) decreases volume of gastric acid secretion, pH, free acidity, total acidity and ulcer index and shows significant ulcer protection compared to standard control. Root bark extracts found to possess significant amount of phenolics and other biologically active constituents based on phytochemical evaluation and shows significant antiulcerogenic activity. Keywords : Azadirachta indica, Root bark,
A global view of Mathematics as a subject reveals that it is widely recognized as a problem area and most students have phobia for it. In view of this, the present study examined correlates of math anxiety among single-sex and co-educational schools in Nigeria. The study adopted an ex-post facto descriptive survey research design, and a total of 450 participants were randomly sampled for the study; 153 (34%) males and 297 (66%) females with their ages ranging between 16years and 24years. Mean age was 16.2years (SD = 1.8).Validated self-reported measures were used for data collection and three hypotheses were tested in the study. Gender correlated significantly negatively (p<.001, r = -.216**); while conception about mathematics and age correlated significantly positively with math anxiety respectively (p<.05; r = 103*; 114*). Other variables of age, assertiveness, emotional intelligence, need achievement motivation, life satisfaction and self-esteem did not have significant correlation with math anxiety.
Aim - To study the hepatoprotective activity of Phyllanthus amarus seeds extracts in CCl4 treated rats. Methods - The crushed and dried seeds of Phyllanthus amarus were divided into two parts; one part was extracted successively with petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform and finally with methanol by soxhlet apparatus and concentrated by rotary vacuum. The other part is extracted by cold maceration process for aqueous extraction. The extracts were used for In-vitro and In-vivo studies to analyze the reparative activity of liver injury due to CCl4 in rats. Results - In-vitro models like Reducing power, Superoxide anion scavenging activity, Hydroxyl radical scavenging activity and Nitric oxide radical scavenging activity were carried out with methanolic extract of Phyllanthus amarus seeds for its antioxidant properties. A protective activity could be demonstrated in the CCl4 induced liver damage in rats. In-vivo methanolic and aqueous extracts of the seeds of Phyllanthus amarus 250mg/kg were found to have protective properties in rats with CCl4 induced liver damage as judged from serum biochemical enzyme marker activities and histopathological studies..
Massive defective products as a result of faulty heat- treatment process of a specific steel alloy, DIN 100CrMn6, are observed as a series issue. This is due to the remarkable market loss faced on the target industry of this research, Akaki Basic Metals Industry. The defective product of the stated steel alloy, mill grinding steel ball of cement industry, was observed and made reproduced its actual prototype using the same material and following the same production flow of the target industry. Three stages of the production flow were selected and the necessary tests, metallographic structure and the chemical composition, of the material were conducted at each selected process stages. The test stages adopted are; testing the raw material, the just as forged, and the heat treated final product. From the chemical composition and metallographic structure result of the first test stage, the mostly pearlite.
A randomized study was carried out to determine the changes during the growth period in 1-6 years groups. The study consists of 350 children from different slum in Bijapur city. The different parameters were measured and compared with national centre for Chronic Disease prevention and health promotion Committee 2000(CDC) standards. Most of the parameters like Height, Weight and Head circumference were reduced significantly in Study groups in comparison to CDC standards in both sexes. The Significant change in the values of different parameters in Study group may be due to illiteracy, poor sanitation and nutrition etc.
The study aims at investigating the impact of cost of governance on economic development in Nigeria. Cost of governance is captured by recurrent and capital administrative expenditures, while gross domestic product is used as a proxy for economic growth. Using data from 1970 to 2010 and the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) technique of analysis, the study reveals that cost of governance hampers economic development in Nigeria. Therefore, there is the need to place institutional constraints on public office holders and technocrats in order to minimize the extraction of rent from the state and enhance the availability of public funds for development projects and vital sectors of the economy
The study investigated the Nigerian Pension reforms and management as veritable strategies of rewarding past intellectuals towards sustainable development in the third world. The main aim of the study was to determine the influence of pension reforms on the welfare of the retired civil servants in Nigeria with particular reference to Cross River State. In order to achieve the objective; direct and guide the study; three research questions were formulated and developed into hypotheses. Data for the study were collected with the use of structured questionnaire. Data obtained were analyzed using simple percentage and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Results and findings revealed that there exists a significant relationship between pension reforms and the welfare of the Pensioners. Also, a significant relationship exists between workers’ ability to save while working and their welfare when retired. Moreover a significant relationship exists between pension reform objective of ensuring that pensioners do not suffer by removing all cumbersome processes of pension payment and the welfare of pensioners. Based on the findings, it was recommended amongst others that the state government should always demand for periodic briefs as frequently as possible to aid in the assessment of the progress of the pension reform scheme and also ensure the achievement of the scheme’s objectives in a bid to ensuring sustainable development.
The study investigated the spatial distribution of health care centres in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, Nigeria with a view to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technique in health care management planning. The study used the administrative map of the study area collected from the local government as the base map. Information on the number and addresses of the health care centres in the study area were collected from the local government while the coordinates of the health care centres were obtained in the field using Global Positioning System (GPS). These data were incorporated into GIS environment and analysed using Arc Map 9.2 software. The study reveals that there were 41 health care centres in the study area with 23 (56.1%) been private health care centres and 18 (43.9%) been public health care centres. The study also reveals the pattern of distribution of the heath care centres within the study area. The study also used World Health Organisation criteria for the location of health care centres in developing countries to propose 9 new sites for the location of new health care centres to adequately cover the health needs of the people of the study area.
Is writing an inborn or learned art? Currently, we can see that majority of undergraduates in higher learning institutions are rather handicapped in this area. Purportedly, this study proposed a teaching model to investigate the four main learning objectives: (1) to generate ideas with visual aids; (2) to write grammatically correct sentences using a model of sentence patterns; (3) to evaluate students’ ability to write systematically using the writing process approach in cooperative learning groups; and (4) to develop a teaching model that can prompt students to speak and write confidently and proficiently. A teaching model based on the writing process approach and cooperative learning skills was implemented using the purposive writing technique. It was conducted on a class of Business communication students for fifty-four hours of face-to-face interaction.
