This paper presents a review on different features extraction and classification methods for off-line handwritten Amazigh characters (called Tifinagh) recognition. The features extraction methods are discussed based on Statistical, Structural, Global transformation and moments.Although a number of techniques are available for feature extraction and classification,but the choice of an excellent technique decides the degree of accuracy of recognition. A series of experimentswere performed on AMHCD databaseallowing to evaluate the effectiveness of different techniques of extraction features based on Hidden Markov models, Neural network and Support vector Machine classifiers. The statistical techniques giveencouraging results.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the flexural strength of a veneered zirconia system after different surface treatments as a pre-cementation procedure and before veneering. Methods: Translucent Y-TZP ceramic bars, for four-point bend testing, were prepared and divided considering the compressive (surface treatment for cementation) and lower tensile surfaces (surface treatment for veneering). Two different surface treatments were evaluated: 1- glass interlayer; 2- sandblasting + glass interlayer. Four-point bending test data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA. Results: The flexural strength was significantly affected by sandblasting the surface for cementation. Sandblasting + glass interlayer on the surface for veneering combined with sandblasting the surface for cementation presented the highest flexural strength and better strength reliability. Conclusion: Sandblasting + glass interlayer on the surface for veneering combined with sandblasting the surface for cementation presented better results regarding flexural strength and reliability.
An attempt has been done on attitude towards sexual harassment which is critical issue nowadays in higher institutions. The result of the study could suggest for putting proper polices in place which considered as vital in preventing sexual harassment as well as creating awareness about sexual harassment issue specially in higher institutions as well as other sectors in general. For study purpose we focus to investigate attitude towards on sexual harassment of students in Wolaita Sodo University students taking a sample of 377 students from all batch admitted in Wolaita Sodo University. Self-administered questionnaire was developed and piloted for use in this study. The cross tabulation with Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were employed to analyze the data. The result of cross tabulation with Chi-square test show that sex and level of schooling have significantly associated with attitude towards on sexual harassment at 5% level of significance. Also the result of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that age, sex and level of schooling have a significant relation with attitude towards on sexual harassment at 5% level of significance. It can be concluded that to promote and improve students’ attitude towards on sexual harassment some crucial steps regarding gender issue in counseling as well as guiding about sexual harassment should be taken into consideration.
The problems facing the river transportation in estuarine region of Niger Delta were studied. The study revealed the problems, the effect of river transportation on the social-economic life of the communities, and the state of the terminals and jetties in those communities. The study also made some useful observation and recommendations were made. It is hoped that this study will assist in understanding, planning, operations and management of river transportation in estuarine region of Niger Delta. For researchers, the study will provide a useful insight into this aspect of transport systems which is relatively neglected in the past research efforts.
City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Mental Health program designed through various organizations such as the University of Alberta, Edmonton Public and Catholic School Board for students, staffs and community people. I focused on student mental health initiatives in Edmonton as a university student. The University of Alberta Mental Health Program has been designed through various service providers such as Wellness Services, Peer Group, Education Clinical Services, Aboriginal Student Group, Interfaith Religious Services, Sexual Assault Services etc. they are working for university students, staffs and faculty members including community people through their various programs such as;
Consumerist society is the consequence of the philosophical movement that started to form at the end of the Second World War. Dynamic development of technology required by the war needs started to be asserted in peace conditions of management mainly in information technology and computing. The philosophy of management reacted on the changes resulting from the political development and the post-war state of economy. It focused on the quantity law that in time changes to quality. Qualitative management that focused on the benefits of information technology and computing started to develop. It increased the attention to measurable values in economics and limited the observation of immeasurable values of economic phenomena. It was done in good faith that desirable development of immeasurable consequences of economic phenomena will be ensured by legislation. For that reason a slogan “what is not forbidden is allowed” was created and it enabled the “dance” among paragraphs with the help of complicated mathematic methods and computing.
The study investigated the relationship between marketing communication strategies and voters’ behaviour in electioneering process, in Southern senatorial district of Cross River State, Nigeria. The purpose was to determine the effect and relationship of marketing communication strategies such as advertising, personal selling and relationship marketing in electioneering process. The survey research design was employed for the study. The sample for the study was 400 which was derived using the Taro Yamane’s formula of from a total number of 971, 470 Population from four local government areas (Calabar municipal, Calabar south, Akpabuyo and Odukpani). The stratified and systematic sampling was then used to select 100 respondents from each of the four Local Government Areas, in the following Political parties All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP).
The existing wavelet-based image resolution enhancement techniques have many assumptions, such as limitation of the way to generate low-resolution images and the selection of wavelet functions, which limits their applications in different fields. This paper initially identifies the factors that effectively affect the performance of these techniques and quantitatively evaluates the impact of the existing assumptions. An approach called Optimal Factor Analysis employing the genetic algorithm is then introduced to increase the applicability and fidelity of the existing methods. Moreover, a new Figure of Merit is proposed to assist the selection of parameters and better measure the overall performance. The experimental results show that the proposed approach improves the performance of the selected image resolution enhancement methods and has potential to be extended to other methods.
Now-a-days a multi-cell cellular network has drawn broad attention for data rate due to continuously increasing user populations using wireless service. That’s why, recent researches focus on the concept of joint transmission coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission which can provide high spectral efficiency for cellular systems. The performance of the Joint Transmission Coordinated Multipoint technique has been analyzed on the basis of signal-tointerference- noise ratio and outage probability variation with both minimum acceptable signal quality and cell radius. In this paper the results are compared with the performance of traditional techniques without coordinated multipoint and obvious improvement has been observed.
In Ethiopia, a number of improved bread wheat (TriticumaestivumL.) varieties have been released by different research centers inorder to see the adaptability and performance of different bread wheat genotypes. However nothing has been done at Gurage Zone and therefore a total of twenty five bread wheat (TriticumaestivumL.) genotypes were evaluated for adaptability and performance at Gurage zone at two different environments. The genotypes were grown in randomized complete block design. Data were collected on 13 agronomic characters. Based on the mean separation, highest grain yield (4941.70kg/ha) was recorded from Hoggana, while lowest yield of (1983.30 kg/ha) was obtained from Kakaba and Sofumar at Fereziye. At Kotergedra, the highest grain yield of (5366.7 kg/ha) was also recorded from Hoggana and the lowest yield of (3166.7 kg/ha) was obtained from Kakaba. The highest above ground biomass also obtained from Hoggana at both location 10850.00 kg/ha and 16992.00 kg/ha at Fereziye and Kotergedra respectively. Statistically, the variety Hoggana gave the highest tillers per plant and spikes per plant at both locations those are positive contributions to grain yield. Therefore, the genotypes can be considered when increment of these characters was needed. Therefore genotype Hoggana could be used for the seed system program in the respective location.
