This paper provides an insight into the concept of computing and their applications. Different computational boards are available in the market for the development of a smart device. Many applications can be developed for the ease of the society. These devices provide great computing functions with mobility too and are smart enough to sense the surroundings. The paper will enlighten some of the important features of the computational platforms and three different applications using them depending on their functionalities
Increased traffic volume had made it necessary to rise transport capacities by construction of full-height bridge. Therefore, the scope of this paper is the analysis of full-height embankment behind abutment on geosynthetic reinforced pile supported (GRPS), with a commercially available finite element software. The analyses of fourteen cases of GRPS system supported under embankment and two untreated foundations are presented in this paper. The factors considered include the construction time, pile center to center spacing, supported region and length of piles DM (Deep-Mixing).
Since the restoration of democratic governance which heralded the Fourth Republic in 1999, the hopes and aspirations of the citizens for improved dividends of democracy for their material wellbeing have been truncated. This has given way to disillusionment and appalling state of living of the majority of the populace. The dwindling quality of government is not unconnected with influence of neo-patrimonial network and fraudulent electoral process. The electoral heist, which robs the political elites the much-needed legitimacy makes them, creates an amalgam of political network amongst major power merchants within the country for regime stability and political survival. The ruling elites are therefore not answerable to the citizens but to this network to the detriment of the common man. This work appraises the democratic governance in the country since the military disengaged from the nation’s politics in 1999; it argues that the nature of Nigeria’s electoral process and neo-patrimonial network ultimately result in the low quality of government. Credible electoral process is not only sine qua non for standard democratic governance but also a crucial element for the realisation of the much-desired dividends of democracy for the citizens. The study makes a case for the dissolution of power through the framework of fiscal federalism. Moreover, the entire electoral architecture of the country must be restructured with the view to minimising fraud and engendering a responsible democratic government.
The double inverted pendulum is a system which is non-linear, unstable with fast reaction. Stabilising a double inverted pendulum means the pendulum is not oscillating and moving and there is no force on it. In this paper the leg of a birdis t modelled as a double inverted pendulum and thenattempt to control it. The Linear Quadratic Regulator is used to control the system. Modelling of thenonlinear dynamic equations is obtained with the help of Euler-Lagrange equation and linearizationis done using the Jacobian matrix.Simulations are done with the help of Matlab which shows that the bird’s leg can be stabilise if they are double inverted pendulums. Future use of the results is to be used for the design of a landing gear based on the principles of a bird’s leg.
In this paper, I have studied the situation of small businesses that owned by ethnic minorities in the United States. I choose the African-American women as a sample to examine the position of their small businesses. Literature review and interactive interviews were used to find the best results. I went through the obstacles faced their businesses and how minorities were affected by the recession. Also, the reasons for increasing the number of entrepreneurs in the recent period, especially African-American women. The paper will end with statistical comparison and the reasons women choose entrepreneurship.
A study was carried out on the impact of the anthropisation on woody vegetation of the Ngaoundere cliff. Its main objective was to assess the floristic composition, the structure and the ecological parameters of that vegetation. The research work was carried out on four formations of vegetation (fallows, fields, shrub savannahs, and arborescent savannahs). The floristic composition and structure vegetation were conducted on some plots of land covering 20m x 50m, giving a total of 24 ha on aggregate. The study of the data were done with the help of soft ware’s like Excel, STATGRAPHICS plus 5,0 and XLSTAT all showed that the Ngaoundere woody vegetation shows an ‘‘L’’ structure under the influence of anthropic activities revealing a great number of waste and a small amount of mature stems. The specific richness is the most elaborate in savannahs planted with trees and the smallest in the fields and fallows lands. The Isoberlinia doka specie offers a comfortable ecological spectrum on the cliff even if it is running high risk of zooanthropic factors. The Cameroon Government should create and authenticate the cliff vegetation for a durable management.
The study evaluated the effect of budget implementation on Nigeria’s economic growth. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was used as the explained variable while Public Recurrent Expenditure (PRE), Public Capital expenditure, (PCE) and Public Debt Service (PDS) were used as the explanatory variables of the study. Data on these variables were sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin from 1986 to 2014. The study adopted Ordinary Least Square (OLS), Co-integration and Error Correction Model (ECM) in analyzing respectively the short and long-run effect of budget implementation on Nigeria’s economic growth. The findings from the study revealed that in the short run, PRE will have a positive relationship with GDP while PCE and PDS will have a negative relationship with GDP. In the long run, there was a complete turn of relationship as to what was obtained in the short run. In both the long run and short run, only PRE is statistically significant at 5% level of significance. The F-test revealed that the overall model is statistically significant in the explanation of the subject matter. The Durbin Watson graph shows that there is absence of serial correlation in the model adopted for the study.
Simulation of suspension system and evaluation of dissipated energy by the system highlights the potential of the car operation mode, where the suspension can provide a significant amount of power. A roughness road profile and a car with elastic suspension springs and stiff dampers can provide significant energy. This energy varies between 4% and 8% of the energy consumed by the engine vehicle, considering the road speed profiles below 60 km/h and a vehicle with reduced rolling resistance and drag coefficient.
This study had been aimed to find out the prevalence of organizational justice and job satisfaction as perceived by employees in banking sector of Pakistan. Further this study examined the relationship between organizational justice encompassed by three components: (distributive justice, procedural justice and interactional justice) and job satisfaction, it also investigated the relationship between employees perception of organizational justice and their personal traits age, gender, marital status, qualification, salary/income and banking experience. The study investigated the relationship of these justice measures in the Banking Sector of Pakistan where this study was limited to city Faisalabad and only 5 banks named Meezan Bank Limited, Bank Alfalah Limited, Habib Bank Limited, Allied Bank Limited and NIB Bank Limited were included in this study. A sample of 291 was determined out of 1,124 employees working in 124 branches of these five banks in Faisalabad.
The present field investigation was undertaken to access the efficacy of different treatment schedules during rabi season from November to February in 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively against whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Genn. (Aleyrodidae: Hemiptera) on potato at District Seed Farm, Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, P.O. - Burdwan, Dist. - Burdwan and West Bengal. All the treatment schedules were significantly superior over control in decreasing the whitefly population on potato but not all around the growing season of the crop. Among the different schedules, T1 in which phorate 10 G @ 1.5 kg a.i./ha was applied to the soil at the time of planting and then spraying of chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 0.5 kg a.i./ha, imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 0.04 kg a.i./ha and cartap hydrochloride @ 0.75 kg a.i./ha were done at 40, 55 and 70 days after planting (DAP), respectively was most effective in reducing the pest population over untreated check plot, which was followed by T2, T3, T5, T6, T4, respectively. The per cent reduction of whitefly population over control was found highest in T1 (66.92-87.95 %), which was followed by T2, T3, T5, T6 and T4 respectively. Marketable yield (t/ha) of potato tubers was recorded highest in T2 (26.28-26.80), which was succeeded by lowest in control T7 (14.17 - 15.69). Maximum cost-benefit ratio (CBR) was achieved in T2 (1:20.92 - 1:27.06) but it was minimum in T6 (1: 5.08 – 1: 10.34).
